A hidden Gem! Why? Because it's not as famous as the other lakes in the Salzkemmergut like Gosausee, Fuschlsee or Königsee (this one close in Germany), but it's absolutely stunning! Be careful, there's a paid parking lot (and not free contrary to what has been written in other reviews), but you don't pay at the entrance, but at the exit (the car number is identified by cameras). When we got there by noon, it was full so be ready to wait for a space, but it was worth it. You can swim if the weather permits or walk around the lake. The walk is relatively short, about an hour, but if you want to walk to the second lake as well, it'll take around 2 hours of easy walk. Enjoy it!

August 24: Truly amazing place! Take your lunch snacks and drinks, find a place in shadow/sun and just relax. Parking spot can be hard to get especially after 10am, so people are parking down the road and walk. It’s free. There are free bio toilets or paid toilets at the bistro. Water in August was great to swim and to enjoy. The road to the lake is Ok in summer, we drove 30-50kmh, not that narrow. Almost no internet connection there! Highly recommended!

Go where the locals go!! This lake is often visited by locals! So its not touristy... you can go swimming in the clear waters or take a walk around the lake which is almost flat or one may even follow a trail which is about 9km from this lake which leads to an even smaller lake than the one in the picture. The lake has striking shades of blue. Don’t forget to carry your swimsuit and picnic basket!!
