Amazing lake surrounded by spectacular mountains! The trail around the lake is very easy, mostly flat, suitable also for children. It take about 2 hours to go around if you are making stops and not rushing. Water seems to be very clean. There are benches on the trail so you can sit and enjoy the nature. You can rent small boat and swim with it on the lake. Parking is right next the lake.

One of my favorite lakes to visit during summer time in Austria. The water is very cold but still a nice place to go for a walk, picnic, and cool down during the hot summer days. It’s a 2 hour drive from Vienna and we’ll worth it! Parking can get busy so come before noon time or you might have to park further away from the main parking zone.

Nature at its best! In winter it's little challenging during snowfall but the place and the lake was really beautiful. In summer it would be even more awesome! Please be careful at that time as the road to the location gets filled with snow and becomes tedious to drive as the roads get slippery. There is enough parking space available.

Very beautiful, natural lake not far from Eisenerz with amazing views of the surrounding mountains. There is a lovely roundtrip hiking/walking/running tour around the lake that takes you to the far-side small restaurant. Many other hiking tours originate from this area. There is a paid parking spot available at the entry area.

Im Osten hält das Wetter nur Nebel, Niesel und graue Tage für uns bereit, also machen wir uns auf in den Süden und finden bei Eisenerz den Leopoldsteiner See. Ein kleines aber feines Naturjuwel, umrahmt von einem tollen Panorama mit beeindruckenden Felswänden, herbstbunten Bäumen, glasklarem Wasser und einem blauen Himmel, der sich, wie es scheint, für uns Wanderer herausgeputzt hat. Radfahrer oder Mountainbiker bleibt der Seerundweg verwehrt, aber für Kletterer gibt es einen eigenen Klettergarten, der heute seine Besucher lockt. Am Parkplatz begrüßt uns bereits der Duft von gebratenen Maroni, die wir später abholen. Der Weg um den See ist familienfreundlich und schön angelegt. Es gibt an beiden Enden des Sees eine Möglichkeit zur Einkehr für einen Imbiss oder eine Kaffeepause. An verschiedenen Stellen laden Bänke zum Verweilen ein, und wir genießen den Tag und beschließen im Frühjahr wiederzukommen.

Great lake, with enormous view. Fresh air and giant mountains around. Good price for a parking place. I can recommend also via ferrata because of great exposition. Not for begginers, you have to be in good shape!

The Leopoldsteinersee is a mountain lake in Styria, in the east of Austria, about 4 kilometres northwest of the city of Eisenerz. The lake is named after the nearby Leopoldstein Castle.
