We liked this place very much. For free you can enjoy well maintained park in style of healing-garden and children-playground. Guided tours were unfortunately only in German, so our teenagers went to dig for amethyst in a small area for the fee 7,-Eur/person/hour. Each of them has found full palm of little and bigger stones, so they were happy enough. Who haven't found, got the stones from the stuff as a memory when leaving. There is also cafe, shop with exhibition of stones and related products to buy, you can spend a lot, but we enjoyed the atmosphere of sunny autumn day and digging there, which are precious memories. We would like to visit Maissau castle, but was closed. If you are there, visit the near Kittenberger Adventure Gardens, too, as we did. It's great for all generations. It's possible to come with the dog :-) What we missed > brochures with information in other languages

We enjoyed a lot the Amethyst world and since our visit I already recommended it to several people with kids. We were not quite sure what to expect, so we were not optimally prepared. My advise to all would be: pick your clothes wisely. If you want to dig - dress an old pair of jeans and not your best shoes :) Also bring along some nylon bag or something else, to sit on while you do the digging. It will make it more pleasant and not so intense on your knees. Otherwise the rest of the place is also very interesting and nice. There is plenty of space to relax and enjoy the nature, have a small picknick and learn some new things about minerals. EVERYTHING is in German, no translation is available. There is a small cafeteria, where you can get a snack or a drink. We will be better prepared next time for sure, and come back for more amethysts.

Our sons loved digging for amethyst in the back and would have been doing it for hours had we let them. We also did a tour of the house with the NO card - note that it is all in German (including displays). We were lucky in that the young woman on our tour (June 26, noon) took a bit of her time when she could to very kindly explain some things to us in English, which we greatly appreciated. There was a young astrophysicist student who, on his first day on the job, also shared with us in English what he had soaked in so far (which was a lot). We were so very appreciative of their time and effort in trying to make this a fun experience for us (and it was!). Brought our own picnic lunch and there are many tables set up for it. Really nice playground on the outside as well for younger kids … and the adults enjoyed the zip line as well!
