Oskar Kokoschka Museum — Attraction in Gemeinde Pöchlarn

On 4 April 2019, 11:30 am, I wanted to visit this "Museum" - it was closed. Even worse, no information on the entrance about opening days and hours !! So I walked five minutes to the Municipality ("Rathaus") to ask the whereabouts and I made also complain about this. A snubbish "Angestellte" (Frau Freitag) patronised me (belehrte mich), that Poechlarn - town is not responsable for this "Kokoschka-Haus". Such an answer with such an "entartete" attitude is typical for this town and region, also because of Stift Melk's Katholozismus' influence. I visited Poechlarn for three nights, only to visit Oskar Kokoschka's birth place. And of course, for those three nights I had to pay fees and taxes to this Municipality, in this context they consired themselves responsable for my money! The bottom line, I can not recommend to...

Kleines aber feines Museum in einem schön restaurierten Haus. Die Fassade ist modern, das Innere des Museums recht leer. Im Museum gibt es sowohl dauerhafte Kunstwerke, die zum Inventar gehören. Jedes Jahr gibt es aber auch neue Ausstellungen mit neuen Leihgaben. Das Personal ist sehr lieb und steht gern für Fragen zur Verfügung. Die Führungen, die wir hatten, waren kurzweilig und spannend. Es machen sowohl Kuratoren, als auch Kunsthistoriker aber auch Kunststudenten die Führungen. Das Museum gibt vor allem auch Studenten die Möglichkeit tolle Praktika zu machen. Besonders schön finden wir auch die Jahresausstellungen mit den jährlich wechselnden Kunstwerken an den Fassaden der Pöchlarner Gebäude. So zieht sich die Ausstellung auch immer bis ins Herz...
