Schloss Pöggstall — Attraction in Gemeinde Pöggstall

This is a very interesting castle to visit with unique features. The exhibition displays are well set out, and I particularly liked the short videos by various archeological and historical specialists describing the fundamentals of their specialist subject and the relevance to the castle. However, I have only given 4 stars, because the English language translations for the display descriptions are too "literal" and lack understanding/experience of the technical subject matter: e.g. the display board shown could be better formulated: "Individual sections of the building are highlighted by colour, identifying the period of origin or construction. These construction dates are derived by a buildings archeology evaluation using historical, archive, technological and scientific sources. To allow comparison of different building structures, a standardised colour coding for archeological building plans is used...

Sehr schön renoviertes Schloß im Zentrum von Pöggstall, im 1. Innenhof ist Restaurant, Café, im 2. Innenhof ist die Theaterbühne untergebracht. Das Schloss ist von einem Burggraben umgeben und man geht vom 1. Burghof über eine Brücke in den 2.Burghof zur Bühne. Aussen ist eine Sonnenuhr zu sehen und auch andere Symbole aus der KuK. Zeit sind zu sehen. Der Vorplatz zum Schloß und der angrenzenden Kirche ist großflächig gepflastert (mit leider wenig Grün).
