Haydn's birthplace — Attraction in Gemeinde Rohrau

A marvellous little museum, the birthplace of Joseph and Michael Haydn, two brothers who changed the history of classical music, this place is worth visiting, although quite remote and away from the busy streets of the big towns. It’s a beautiful building, almost inconspicuous, can be easily passed by without even realising its significance. It is full of history, family stories, music, charm. Excellent display of information on the early formative years of these two brothers as musicians and composers. A small concert hall at the end of the tour adds to the atmosphere, as well as the sunny, tidy, tiny courtyard. A...

Neu renoviert und zeitgemäß adaptiert präsentiert sich das kleine Haus der Familie Haydn in neuem Glanz. Brandneu ist der Konzertsaal, welcher für die großartige Musik der Brüder Joseph und Michael einen schönen Rahmen bildet. Die Ausstellung selbst bietet nur wenige Objekte aus der Zeit der Haydns, interessant die Texte und die vielen Hörproben. Aufgrund der Textlastigkeit ist das Museum meiner Meinung nach für Kinder weniger geeignet. Sollte Rohrau am Weg liegen, dann lohnt sich sicher ein kurzer Halt. Einen Umweg braucht man allerdings nicht in Kauf...

Wir sind auf das Geburtshaus Haydns nur zufällig gestoßen, da wir eine Führung im Schloss Rohrau machten und die Dame auf die Verbindung von Josef Haydn zur Familie Harrach verwiesen hat. Nette Dame am Empfang, gut erklärt, schön renoviertes Gebäude, man kann sich Kompositionen anhören, ein wenig Kultur ist nie verkehrt .....wir haben unsere NÖ Card genutzt und hatten damit...
