20-Schilling View — Attraction in Gemeinde Semmering

Hiked point-to-point trail from Breitenstein to Semmering train stations (7.6 miles, 2100 ft gain) via Ghega-Museum, railroad trail, 20-Schilling-Blick viewpoint, Doppelreiterwarte viewpoint; great views of the snow-peaked mountain ranges overlooking the valleys that the railroad hugs and tunnels through. Started at 1000, finished at 1400, and stopped for plenty of pictures. Easy hike with moderate switch-back inclines throughout; combination of dirt- and paved-roads, and hiking trails.

Highlight is definitely the 20-Schilling-Blick viewpoint; if you don't have 4 hours, just find a trail straight there. Train to/from...

The view is really breathtaking. I left my motorcycle near Gasthof Blunzenwirt (this was the direction Google maps lead me to), exactly here: 47.657386,15.819223. Here begins a path that eventually leads you to the "20 Schilling Blick". (Though I believe that there are more ways to get there, from other directions). The walk takes about 15-30 min from there. It wasn't crowded with tourists, basically I was alone at the top when I was there....

One of my favorite place. I visitied first time since 27 years ago and now this place with view always calling me back. Good destination for trail running, hinking or train spotting.
