We were here with #Bigfoot and #Littlefeet and friends and had a great time, both on the Winklmoos-Alm (Germany) and on the Steinplatte (Austria). Skiing is really fun here!
We came up the mountain via the German side and the Winklmoosalm.
We were there on a Thursday lunchtime during the Christmas holidays. The journey from Munich by car takes about 1 hour 20 minutes.
The pistes, including in the fun park, were in great condition and primarily icy. And because there are so many large pistes, the masses of skiers get lost very easily.
We had a little snack in the sun at the top of the Steinplatte between the hut and the lift because we had boxes and tea with us.
In the evening after skiing, we went for a pizza in Reit im Winkl.
The prices for the ski passes were absolutely ok and what's really amazing compared to ski resorts for families like Sudelfeld or Spitzingsee is how modern and big the lifts are - many chairlifts are heated, which I don't think is necessary.

Read moreA very beautiful ski area with long, wide and relatively flat blue slopes, ideal for beginners. The German side has relatively few slopes, getting the ski ticket for both the German and the Australian sides is recommended, the view is amazing and there's a restaurant on top of the blue slopes 4 and 5. The side slope 1 / 14 has an amazingly scenic cable car ride (B). For absolute beginners, it might make sense to just get the German ski ticket since the super flat and wide slope 17 is all you need and it's cheaper (36€...
