The trailhead is located at a small parking area near the Golling an der Salzach town center. The total distance from the parking area to the waterfall is 1.5 km which takes about 30 minutes one way.
• Initial Walk: The first part of the trail takes you through a beautiful forest, which is relatively flat and easy, with a wide path that allows for a leisurely stroll.
• Approaching the Waterfall: As you get closer to the waterfall, the trail starts to ascend gradually, with a few sections that might require careful footing, especially after rain. Wooden bridges and railings are provided at steeper sections to ensure safety.
• First Vantage Point: The first viewpoint offers a spectacular view of the upper tier of Gollinger Wasserfall. Here, you can see the water plunging into a rocky basin, surrounded by lush greenery and moss-covered rocks.
• Final Ascent: The trail continues to climb, becoming slightly steeper as you approach the waterfall's base. This final stretch involves a short but somewhat steep climb, which might require a bit more effort.
• The Main Viewing Platform: At the end of the trail, there's a platform offering a close-up view of the waterfall's lower tier. Here, the water cascades down through a narrow gorge, creating a mesmerizing display of mist and rainbows on sunny days. The platform is spacious enough for multiple visitors, allowing everyone to enjoy the view without...

The waterfall itself is stunning, as well as the hike to the top. Make sure to wear hiking shoes, as some parts are very steep and slippery due to the water spray from the waterfall. I loved how you could hike up and watch the waterfall from different point of views!
Parking is available for a small price. A kind driver gave us his parking day ticket. After we finished, we passed the ticket on as well. You pay for the whole day, so might as well pass it on ;)
From the parking spot it’s a short walk to the entrance where you pay €3 pp (reduced prices for kids/students). There is a free toilet and you can buy some drinks/snacks and souvenirs.
Tips: Wear hiking shoes & jacket to protect you from the water spray. Dogowners: there are quite some stairs, so might not be good for a dog’s back. Also there are some metal roster parts where you might have to carry your dog. Pass on your parking tickets, it makes...
Read moreWent yesterday, off-season and it was amazing! The falls and caves are absolutely gorgeous, lots of trails to hike, and the surrounding scenery is breathtaking. Parking is limited at the falls, so on busy days you may have to park in the village below and walk up. (It's only a 10-15 minute walk, not far.) To the bottom of the Fälle is a fairly easy walk, only a few minutes. Hiking there off-season is free and I believe it's only a few Euro for admission during the summer. From the main falls to the top/Quelle there are a lot of stairs and the trail is steep in places, so it may be difficult for small children or the elderly. The trails beyond the falls into the Backcountry are definitely for more advanced hikers as they are steep and rugged. For a visit just to the falls expect to be there about an hour. There is no WC or drinking fountain, so bring...
