Burgruine Griffen — Attraction in Griffen

The mighty ruins of the castle, which impress with their appearance on a high rock from afar. Several paths lead to the ruins. None is payable, nor is there an entrance fee at the top. One path is partly on the stairs starts behind the church near the stalactite caves, second from parking lot no.1, wher you walk part of the way through the forest, or one from parking lot no.2, from where you go past the sign for via ferrata, ( also one way to go ) directly along the old wall up to the castle ruins. The path is quite steep. Further towards the top there are benches for relaxing and enjoying the beautiful view. Just in front of the top is the ruin of the castle chapel, where you can find an altar and a cross inside. At the top are (probably were ) two bars on the castle itself, both closed. From all the platforms of the former towers you can see a beautiful landscape. Near is a board where all the visible mountain peaks in the distance are marked. From afar, you will notice a glassy composition embedded in the ruins. It is home to a private society.

I miss more historical details about the castle than just a meager description at the foot and two photographs.

For a small town such as Griffen, it offers an amazing experience and that is, visiting this castle. It is a beautiful hilltop fortress with a breathtaking view of the surrounding area. It is very well-preserved and every step you take you reveal new parts of "the map" of the countryside. It's a beautiful 15-minute uphill hike that you have to experience. At the very top is a café bar which sadly did not work at the time we visited, but you get an amazing feeling like you are on top of the world. We could stay...

Vom Kirchenplatz aus mehrere Möglichkeiten zum Aufstieg. Bei der Kasse für die Tropfsteinhöhle gibr es rechts außen ein WC. Wir haben für den Aufstieg die leichteste (längste) Variante über die Straße gewählt. Für Autos ist ab dem 2 Parkplatz ein Fahrverbot. Den Abstieg haben wir über die "Stufen" (schnellster Abstieg) gewählt Der Naturpfad ist für geübte Wanderer ohne Probleme zu bewältigen. Kletterfreudige können den Aufstieg bzw. Abstieg auch über den Klettersteig bewerkstelligen. Die Ruine ist liebevoll renoviert und bietet eine herrliche Aussicht in alle Richtungen. Das kleine Restaurant am Plateau der Burgruine bietet eine reichhaltige Auswahl Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Unseren Hunden wurde sofort (noch vor uns) eine Schüssel mit Wasser angeboten 😄👍. Die Preise sind durchaus OK. Alles in allem ein netter kleiner Ausflug für die ganze Familie der sich auf...
