Jungfernsprung — Attraction in Heiligenblut am Großglockner

Il salto della fanciulla…si trova nel comune di Grosskirckheim nell’alta Valle del Moll. La coreografica cascata alta ben 130 metri è ben visibile dalla strada statale da Winklern porta al romantico paesino di Heiligenblut 1301 mt, posto ai piedi del Grossglockner 3798 mt. Il sentiero per raggiungere la vedetta più spettacolare è piuttosto ripido ma breve (circa 150 mt di dislivello) e parte direttamente dal chiosco ai margini della strada (indicazioni e tabelle). Durante l’inverno la cascata è quasi sempre gelata e le grandi colonne di ghiaccio sospese offrono uno spettacolo inconsueto e fiabesco. Legata a questa cascata vi è una leggenda curiosa che merita di essere letta: La leggenda della cascata Jungfernsprung

” In un magnifico prato situato nei pressi di questa cascata vi era un tempo una giovane pastorella. Era così bella, che tutti i giovani della zona desideravano conquistare il suo cuore. La fanciulla volendo rimanere pura e casta respingeva il loro amore. Un giorno le si presentò il diavolo nelle vesti di un bel forestiero, e si mise a farle ardentemente la corte. La fanciulla però lo riconobbe e, volendo mantenere intatta la sua purezza, scappò via. Fuggendo si avvicinò sempre di più al dirupo e, quando si accorse di non avere più scampo dal suo inseguitore, si gettò dalla roccia. Con un salto di 130 metri giunse a valle miracolosamente sana e salva. Da quel giorno da quella roccia si getta una meravigliosa cascata che ha preso il nome di Jungfernsprung ovvero salto...

A gorgeous waterfall in the middle of a green picturesque valley.

A small free parking lot. Just beneath it a nice stream of clear water in which you can dip your feet.

If you walk uphill for about 5 minutes you will have a beautiful view of the waterfall and the valley.

You can walk a bit further up (about 5-10 minutes) in order to get a closer view of the waterfall. Quite a steep pathway, but not too difficult as there are wooden steps and fence along the path.

Without knowing of exisiting such a beauty on our road we accidentally found this spot. But it is exactly a wonderful point to have a break and get closer.
