Zoo Schmiding / Museum - meeting of cultures — Attraction in Krenglbach

The aquazoo and the museums are very good! Especially the museums. Okay the aquazoo may need a little bit of a fixer up but it's still quite nice with a lot of beautiful fish! The only thing worrying me is that the four sharks are not very comfortable in their enclosure.... the noses of the sharks are very beaten up, almost tot the bone of bumping in to the coral. But the fish seem to have a good life! The reptiles are very cool and look healthy (some might need a bigger enclosure but they don't seem to have a problem with it). The museums were my favorite, a lot to learn and a lot to see! If you don't speak German, it might be hard to enjoy the museum because most/all signs are in German. But still an amazing experience!

The zoo itself it quite good... I have seen worse and I have seen a lot better. The animals seem happy though and all look healthy! Loved to see all the animals and how they where doing. The only thing this zoo needs is a fixer upper for the restaurant. More to choose from and maybe a paint job....

Definitely one on my recommendationlist! Four stars for me because of the restaurant and the condition of the sharks (and overall look of the whole zoo).

We were thrilled! I have never seen the animals so close at Schönbrunn or Hellbrunn. My nephew celebrated his 6th birthday with friends (between 5-7 years) Starting with a great private guided tour in the zoo and feeding the animals in the Aquazoo (including petting snakes). We adults loved the homemade lemonade in the cafe too! (Attention in the cafe: payment only possible with cash!) The cafe in the Aquazoo could offer a little more snacks to choose from. I found the selection of frozen pizza boring. Also the cleanliness in the toilet and the cafe could be better. And the great 5D Safari trip, simply a very successful day! The children as well as us were really enthusiastic and exhausted after the great adventure. :-D A small birthday present from the Aquazoo was also given (very thoughtful). Pro: Schönes gepflegtes Gelände, zu manchen Tieren kann man teilweise so nah hin das man sie streicheln könnte, bis auf die Esel haben wir das aber gelassen. Dafür das der Zoo so klein ist sind sehr viele Tiere zu sehen.

Auch die Wasserwelt ist sehr schön, eine Riesen Schildkröte zieht ihre Kreise, 3 Haie die sehr cool anzusehen sind, gibt's auch. Kleine Nemo's und Dori's runden es ab. Für Kinder perfekt.

Wer sich zwei Flaschen Mautner Markhof Sirup kauft, der spart sich durch Abgabe der Deckel den Eintritt für ein Kind. Funktioniert auch bei mehreren problemlos.

Normalerweise erwähne ich es nicht, aber hier möchte ich es betonen: So dermaßen schöne, saubere und gepflegte Toiletten habe ich selten gesehen an solch hochfrequentierten Orten.

Auch die Preise für Essen und Trinken im Park waren absolut in Ordnung soweit ich es gesehen habe, konsumiert haben wir aber nichts.

Contra:

Eintrittspreise von 22 Euro pro Erwachsenem für den Zoo, das Unterwassergedöns und ein Museum klingt zwar günstig, ist es aber nicht. Die Preise sind ähnlich wie im Nürnberger Tierpark oder München Hellabrun. Auch Wien bewegt sich in ähnlichen Höhen. Der Unterschied ist allerdings das man in den genannten Zoos problemlos einen ganzen Tag verbringen kann und trotzdem immer noch das Gefühl hat nicht alles gesehen zu haben. In Schmieding war das Thema nach 3 Stunden durch. Mit Unterwasserwelt und mit Museum. Da war noch nix mit Zeit am Spielplatz oder mit Essen vertrödeln.

Die unterwasserwelt war schön anzusehen, aber ein Ausflug in den örtlichen Aquaristikshop ist nicht weniger spannend für die Kinder.

Auch das Museum ist zwar vollgestopft mit haufenweise Exponaten, aber wer keine Zeit/Lust hat sich das alles durchzulesen oder quengelige Kinder dabei hat, der kann sich das sparen. Es läuft ein Video mit unterirdischer Qualität über den Weltraum, zumindest der Ton ist gut. Wer aber darauf steht planeten und ähnliches im Weltraum zu sehen der kann sich genausogut auf Youtube irgendeinen Vorspann der unzähligen Star Trek Serien ansehen. Qualitativ besser, und auch günstiger.

Persönlich extrem gestört hat mich dann noch folgendes:

Direkt am Eingang vor der Kasse wird damit geworben einen 5D Simulator besuchen zu können. Einmal für Unterwasser und einmal für die Wüste.

Voll cool!

Pustekuchen, am Ort angelangt weist ein Schild darauf hin das es nur am Wochenende verfügbar ist. Wer unter der Woche kommt, hat leider Pech gehabt. Diese Information ist leider erst am Simulator ersichtlich.

Für einen einmaligen Tagesausflug absolut empfehlenswert, aber...
