This is quite an interesting local attraction for kids. You definitely need to drive here, as its located on top of a rather high hill. Fortunately they do have credit card facilities.

The dragon train ride itself only takes a couple of mins. It runs three circuits and the best was probably the last circuit with all pretty lights turned on and you can appreciate all the statues, models and taxidermy. It was amusing to see the dragon train with a Christmas hat to add to the festivity.

After the ride, we proceeded to the basement / lower floor where they have a few stalls and some activities for children. Not extensive but enough to keep the children occupied. There were also side enclaves where there are displays of various fairy tales.

We spent close to two hours here, which was longer than I expected. Could be more if we had viewed every single side enclave and every single detail of the basement.

All in all, a pleasant local attraction and I believe the...

Fun fairytale park- took my 4 year old there. There were English translations of well known and not so well known fairy tales and vignettes. My daughter had a great time. Spent about 1-2 hours there. Very tiny bathroom by the ticket booth otherwise no bathrooms in the park. There is also a basilica and a beautiful overlook as a part of the park grounds/train station. No cafe- just snacks and we enjoyed our ice cream. Took the tram down to the Zoo and it was very easy- but very hot on a late July day! Grottenbahn is entirely indoors so a great...

We repeated 3 circles on the dragon train through the cave. First the lights were on on the left side. The second spin the lights were on on the right side. The last spin all the lights were on. I advise this for kids under 5 years of age. Not spectacular. Not really worth it. Bearley any animations or story line. The minuter city afterwards was not very interesting as most of the buildings were filled with advertisements. Small setups were made with fairy tales but again no animation, only lights went on/off and German recording. I wouldn't...

It's definitely a sweet nostalgia kick and a perfect getaway for families I recommend going to café Jindrak afterwards the staff is amazing and the sweets on point, because the café which comes before Jindrak called "pöstlingberg schlössl" they said that allllll the tables with the view were reserved, although there were people sitting there and we told them we're not gonna stay long just a coffee or so and they made us "choose" a table with no view at all but a view to the street but we didn't stay and we left immediately! So yea Jindrak is way better

Awful management. For my daughter's birthday, we spent the €171 for the event. However, the management ruined the experience of our guest's mothers by sending them away from the venue into extremely bad weather. The unempathetic manager also did this in an extremely rude manner that left everyone, including other waiting guests, in shock. The attraction itself is quaint and fun, brilliant for birthdays. The party host was fantastic, and the kids loved meeting Sebastian the dragon.

I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to the Grottenbahn. The train ride was fun, and I was very appreciative that it went around 3 times so you could see everything. However, for me, it still wasn't enough times to see all the details I would have liked to see. I did love the second part of the experience where they have the miniature town square and different fairy tales. I would highly recommend this, especially for families with children.
