Coburger Hut — Attraction in Mieming

My excellent experience at Coburger Hut (F.Y.I This review is not about the hotel,but the restaurant)

My first glance of this place was the big line leading to order the food.The same about the tables.Finally I found a free table on the other side of the hut.The decor/the view was really nice.There wasn’t anything special about the decor.Rustic tables and of course the view.Impeccable!You look in one direction,you see the Seebensee,look in the other,the Drachensee.

Now let’s talk about the main attraction-food. I ordered gulasch (meat sturr) and for desert berry cake.I’ve been here once and have ordered meat knödel (bread puffs with meat) so they are really nice too.After about five minutes I took my meal to my table and enjoyed the beautiful view,while eating the delicious food.The meat sturr was juicy and the warm bread really topped everything off.It was perfectly cooked and just divine.It of course did not dissapoint.The berry cake was warm and fluffy on the bottom and creamy,fruity on top.Sorry vegetarians,but this place isn’t really popular for their vegetarian options.Don’t worry guys,you surely will get full.

Let’s move on to the service.The service is attentive and friendly.In terms of money Coburger Hut offers reasonable prices for the quality and the amount of food they serve.

My comment is for the smaller hut for winter use, the bigger was closed then. It was a surprise for me and a saviour for the very cold night, otherwise I'd freeze outside in my tent. A lovely facility with a stove inside with a table and chairs, comfortable mattresses in the attic room, and a toilet. The payment is easy too, you stay there, and when you are back in civilisation, you pay to a bank account.

If some electric sockets and a faucet added, charging phones and obtaining water would be perfect.

Why 4? Just to draw attention, so maybe the management would add the water tap and sockets 😉otherwise I'd give 5 even only for being able to stay the...

Schöne urige Berghütte unweit des Drachensee gelegen.

Das Essen ist gut und schmackhaft, wenn auch das Gröstl etwas sehr salzig war. Auf der Hütte ist Selbstbedienung. Die Speisen werden jedoch, sofern etwas Wartezeit erforderlich wird, zum Tisch gebracht. Preis Leistung ist meiner Meinung nach angemessen und die Mitarbeiter waren auch sehr schnell, mit bedienen, Tische abräumen und freundlich trotz der vielen Gäste und des Arbeitspensum. Die Hütte war zwar sehr gut besucht, dennoch hat jeder auf der Terrasse einen Platz gefunden. Die Toiletten waren sauber. Übernachten ist ebenfalls auf der Coburger Hütte möglich. Da wir das allerdings nicht gemacht haben kann ich hierzu keine Bewertung abgeben.

Der Aufstieg zur Coburger Hütte muss zu Fuß über ein Geröllkar erfolgen. Man sollte jedoch eine gute Kondition bzw. genügend Motivation dafür haben. 😂 Es lohnt sich aber definitiv! 👍 (Genügend Zeit und Trinken einplanen.)

Für den Abstieg reicht die auf den Wanderschildern veranschlagte 1/2 Stunde. Wer mit der Ehrwalder Almbahn wieder ins Tal fahren will sollte die Zeit für den Rückweg + einen kleinen Puffer (falls man ungeknickt oder müde ist) definitiv in seine Zeitplanung mit einkalkulieren. Daher mein Tipp nicht mehr zu spät aufsteigen, außer man übernachtet auf der Hütte, möchte zu Fuß ins Tal gehen oder fährt mit dem Rad.

Der Drachensee neben der Coburger Hütte, als auch der Seebensee unterhalb davon sind wunderschön, eiskalt und klar. 🥶💙💚

Ein paar mutige Wanderer haben sich sogar für einige Sekunden bzw. zwei-/drei Schwimmzüge komplett ins Wasser getraut, aber selbst an einem heißen Tag mit 30°C Außentemperatur darf man nicht vergessen, dass es sich jeweils um einen Bergsee handelt. 🥶 Es reicht aber auch vollkommen sich nur mal die Füße...
