Advices for 1st timer / non-skiing experiences 1) First of all, please buy the guided tour in advance. Don't proceed to rent the ski clothes/ equipment until you manage to get a guided ski tour. It is impossible to ski without guidance. 2) Please reach the place in the early morning, so that you have time to try & wear on all the skiing gears. 3) Research on how to dress/ what to prepare/ What to Pack Skiing! Please buy a pair of ski goggles from your hometown (is cheaper compare to get it onsite), as the rental do not included it. 4) If schedule allowed, just slot-in 2 days for skiing. Half-day is like wasting your time. You wont be able to learn or enjoy the fun of skiing. Here is our terrible plan as we have no clue of what to prepare / expect for our 1st skiing: - we reach the place at 11am to have a lunch first - after 12pm we go to get our rental ski gear (try & wear) - almost 1pm, after we are fully gear on, we went to the ski tour place wanna to buy a tour package, but was informed that last tour ended at 1pm Basically, we spent euro 200++ to rent the ski clothes and gears, but we didn't get to learn to ski.... It is difficult to walk on the snow, we cannot move much and keep struggling at the same spot.

This is a marvelous place deserving its 5-stars mark by both the excellent facilities and stunning views. It can be easily reached by car or bus (line 590, 590a and 590b running through the villages along the Stubai Valley from Innsbruck straight to the lifts stations Eisgrat and Gamsgarten). I opted for Gamsgarten and was impressed by the extensive ski trails for all ages and skills (tens of blue and red pistes). Ski schools are right at the feet of the station.Once you're on the top station Gamsgarten you may go for amazing snow walk on blue-marked trails (just walk along the yellow-black striped sticks). I admired the magic skyline perched by saw-like peaks, breath the hard air of mountains and stared at wild goats (chamois) stepping the rocks. There are several easy hikes around Gamsgarten, one linking this station with Eisgrat top station (1-1.5 hours walk). The snow walk is clearly underrated as I felt it as one of the most wonderful experiences of my life.

Ende Februar 2024. Bewertung nach einer Woche Skiurlaub. Einen Stern gibt es für die Kulisse. Eingebettet in zig Dreitausender eröffnet sich kurz vor der Anfahrt Gamsgarten ein tolles Panorama. Unglaublich schön. Den zweiten Stern gibt es für die Gondelbahnen, Sesselbahnen, Lifte und deren Personal. Egal wie voll es ist, alle versehen ihren Dienst sehr professionell und unaufgeregt. Es gab keine Probleme über die gesamte Zeit. Den dritten Stern gibt es für die Pisten und die Mitarbeiter, die sie präparieren. Die Pisten waren zumindest ab Tagesstart gut bis sehr gut vorbereitet. Es wurde im Tagesverlauf auch regelmäßig der Bereich um die Gondelbahnen aufgefrischt. Für die teilweise Zerfahrenheit der Pisten am Nachmittag können sie nichts. Den vierten Stern gibt es für das Kinderland. Hier sind mit der Murmelebahn zusammen genügend Möglichkeiten zu lernen und sich zu steigern. Die Skischulen sind sehr gut und Ski- und Snowboardlehrer in großer Anzahl anwesend. Tja und den fünften Stern gibt es nicht wegen der Qualifizierung der Pisten. Der Stubaier Gletscher lockt mit dem Credo, ein Anfänger- und Familienskigebiet mit vielen blauen Pisten zu sein, aber das ist nur bedingt so. Die Piste 1 z.B. ist als blaue Piste ausgewiesen. Sie setzt sich jedoch aus dem Eisjochferner und der Eisjochzunge zusammen. Der Eisjochferner beginnt mit einem roten Abschnitt und geht in blau über. Beim roten Einstieg in die Eisjochzunge hat man linksseitig eine Umfahrung des Abschnitts präpariert, der aber dennoch schwierig ist. Am Nachmittag entwickelt sich daraus eine Buckelpiste und Anfänger stehen vor einer echten Herausforderung. Ich habe hier etliche Anfänger täglich stürzen gesehen. Hat man das gemeistert, fährt man auf blauer Piste ins Tal. Die Piste 1 ist also realistisch eher eine rot-blau-rot-blau Piste. Dasselbe kann man bei den Pisten 3 und 9 feststellen. Die vom SG Team selbst gedrehten Pistenvideos und Google Maps weisen beide Pisten noch als rote Pisten aus. Scheinbar legt der Betreiber die Norm für Pistenmarkierungen weit aus, denn in Österreich darf eine blaue Piste auch temporär schwierigere Passagen beinhalten. Es wäre schön, wenn im Sinne der sportlichen Unversehrtheit darauf hingewiesen werden könnte. Eventuell reicht ja schon eine Beschreibung online. So begibt man sich nicht in eine Situation, die man nicht meistern kann oder will. Trotz dieses Mankos ist das Skigebiet Stubaier Gletscher vollumfänglich zu empfehlen. Es ist schneesicher und es gibt viele schöne Pisten. Anfänger können hier gut lernen und sich steigern. Für Fortgeschrittene finden sich auch allerlei schöne Abfahrten, auch wenn es nur eine schwarze Route gibt. Die Möglichkeiten zum Freeriden sind vielfältig. Man kann sich auch im Funpark austoben. Wir kommen definitiv wieder. Diese Empfehlung schließt die kulinarische Versorgung leider aus, die Bewertung hierzu unter den jeweiligen Restaurants.

We are beginners and we visited Mutterr Alm, Schlick 2000 and Glungezer Bahn. By far this is the best resort for beginners. Here is our experience; first thing you need to do is to go little bit early and park near to Talstation Gamsgarten because “Gamsgarten I” Gondola will take you the beginner and kids area. If parking is full then you need to park Near Eisgrat and take ring shuttle to the other one. Don’t get of at the first station (Mittelstation) stay on board to head to Gamsgarten. In Gamsgarten you will find 3 slope with covered carpet lift and a longer slope with a drag lift (the one you take between your legs). Later you can use chairlifts to go up to Murmele and try Grubenschuss pist. The chairlift is designed for kids/beginners so there is carpet moving and aligning you with chairlifts and it is low so very easy to sit/leave.
