What a ripoff!!! This place is CRAZY EXPENSIVE and there's really no justification for it. We were charged 63.90 euro per person (misled regarding senior tickets and no pricing offered for students). This price covers a visit to the ice cave, and the trail to the site known as 5 finger, which is a nice spot to view the lakes and small town below. It also covers the cable cars. First stop delivers you to a point from which there is a very steep walk, of 20-30 minutes to the opening of the ice cave. The second stop is to the highest point, where you have not an easy walk to the 5 fingers stop. I must say, that though this is a nice view point, I was disappointed. In the website they describe it as if each "finger" points to a totally different view point. But the reality is that it's a small area and the "fingers" are not really facing different directions. This was the most expensive sight we visited in our trip to Salzburg and the least worth it. Go for a cheaper ice cave!

*Ice cave guided tour was nice. It should take something around 10-15 minutes, maybe 20. But for the place to demonstrate that they are offering value the guide walks extremely slowly and drags the tour to around 40 mins. At certain points this was difficult to...

Writing from the perspective as someone with not very good cardio from having asthma, I hope this review helps others who might be in the same boat as me.

Dachstein is honestly a must see. The mountain views and glacier alone are spectacular and unforgettable. While there are of course inclines that need to be negotiated, getting to Five Fingers and back was challenging, but not impossible. Catching my breath while looking at the spectacular scenery along the trail certainly helped.

The only thing I must mention is the walk to the Ice Cave. I was forced to turn back half way up and not see it, as the incline and switchback path to get there is incredibly steep, apparently took 25 mins, and on an already warm day, it became too much for my lungs, so it had to be abandoned. Incredibly disappointing, but hopefully helpful to know for anyone else out there. Perhaps there should be more warning that the path up there is on a very steep gradient, or we might not have purchased the all-in-one ticket.

However on balance, I thoroughly recommended visiting this part of the world and at least trying to see...

Dachstein Krippenstein is a must-visit destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers in the Austrian Alps. Located in the Dachstein Mountain range, this area offers a mix of stunning natural beauty, outdoor activities, and breathtaking views. One of the highlights is the 5fingers viewing platform, which extends over a cliff, offering incredible panoramic views of Lake Hallstatt and the surrounding mountains. It’s a thrilling experience standing on the transparent platform, feeling like you're floating above the landscape!

In winter, Krippenstein is a haven for skiers and snowboarders, with fantastic freeride terrain and well-maintained slopes. During the summer, it's popular for hiking, with trails that lead through alpine meadows and offer views of rugged peaks. You can also explore the famous Dachstein Ice Cave and the Giant Ice Cave, both filled with fascinating ice formations.

Whether you're looking to ski, hike, or simply take in the stunning vistas, Dachstein Krippenstein is a fantastic alpine destination that offers something...
