Hut managed by friendly team of young people, the vibe is youthful and cheerful.

In terms of facilities the hut is not the best, shower is not possible and rooms are not that comfy. The mattresses are narrow and you have to sleep in cramped conditions. People were snoring and sometimes there was unpleasant smell coming up to the room from toilet. BUT! Food was so good, that I would be happy to stay there for longer. Adjusting half board to vegan version was not a problem for them and the taste was beyond expectations! As a half board we had good portion of delicious lentil soup, chilly with lots of legumes and topped with brown rice and heavenly tasty apple strudel for dessert! I mean... location is very far from the village, but we experienced such a lovely attitude. (we asked for vegan menu in advance, when making reservation) Thank you, Glungezer Hütte Team! We felt so welcomed ❤️ Other pluses: -drinking water refill is free of charge -card payment is possible -free wi-fi -in the evening we were warned about bad weather conditions and advised to have early breakfast and start our way to the next hut asap. Very thoughtful and with care about hiking guests....

We stayed on this cottage during our Transalp in 2015. The cottage itself is actually nice, but the host is anything else. He created a two class society, 1 for people who consumed all the beverages available who were his friends and one for people who might only eat breakfast and sleep who were his unloved customers. Anything was pretty expensive compared to cottages delivered by heli. The top was 3€ per liter drinking water for the next day hike with no water sources available on the way. Someone took advantage!Unfortunately not possible to make a big circle around this cottage...

While doing the Zirbenweg we took a detour up Glungezer. For our group this was ill advised as by the time we got there one of us was exhausted, thirsty and probably a little heat stroked. We had a very friendly welcome from the waitress who spoke english and she offered to translate everything. Quick service of some food and nice cold drinks we were on our way again pointing us into the right direction. May be a bit pricey for drinks but have to remember everything that high has to be brought up the mountain which isn't cheap.
