A Sweet Experience for Chocolate Lovers!

The HEINDL SchokoMuseum Wien is a delightful destination for anyone with a sweet tooth or an interest in the art of chocolate making. While the entry fee might be a bit on the higher side, the experience is definitely worth it for chocolate enthusiasts.

Exhibit Quality and Experience: 9/10 The museum provides an in-depth look at the history and production of chocolate. The exhibits are well-organized, taking visitors on a journey from cocoa bean to finished product. The craftsmanship and attention to detail in HEINDL’s chocolate creations are evident throughout the museum, showcasing everything from velvety milk chocolate to decadent dark chocolate. The flavor variety is impressive, and every sample is pure bliss in every bite.

Audio Guide and Accessibility: 7/10 For non-German speakers, there is an audio guide available in English for a supplemental fee. While the additional cost might be a bit inconvenient, the audio guide is very informative and enhances the overall experience, providing deeper insights into each exhibit.

Vegan Tastings: 8/10 One of the highlights of the visit was the inclusion of vegan chocolate tastings. It's great to see that HEINDL caters to different dietary preferences, ensuring that everyone can enjoy their exquisite chocolates. The vegan options were delicious and appreciated by those in our group.

Visitor Tips:

Buy Tickets Online: To save time and potentially get a better deal, consider purchasing tickets online in advance.

Audio Guide: If you don't speak German, budget for the audio guide to get the most out of your visit.

Tastings: Take advantage of the tasting opportunities – they're a real treat and allow you to sample a wide variety of HEINDL’s products.

Gift Shop: Don’t miss the gift shop at the end of the tour. It’s the perfect place to pick up souvenirs and more of HEINDL’s delicious chocolates to take home.

Overall Experience:

The HEINDL SchokoMuseum Wien is more than just a museum – it’s a paradise for chocolate lovers. The combination of well-curated exhibits, the chance to see chocolate-making in action, and the opportunity to taste a variety of high-quality chocolates make it a must-visit. Despite the somewhat pricey entry and extra fee for the English audio guide, the experience is enriching...

"Klein" aber fein! I booked a tour and praline workshop for our visit, not realizing that the workshop already included a tour. Upon arrival, a friendly staff member immediately refunded the extra tour. The museum is small but filled with well-curated information and many interactive areas. Special thanks to our tour guide Alex, who did an excellent job sharing tons of information, engaging the kids, answering questions, and ensuring the workshop ran smoothly. Loved hearing about the history and evolution of the company. We would like to visit again to do another workshop!

The only area that could be improved is the theater; the film looked good but I barely heard it. The front of the theater is the only through-way into the museum, meaning people were constantly going in and out, right in front of the screen. A simple and effective solution would be to rotate the "theater" 180°, leaving the "hallway" at the back...

The SchokoMuseum in Vienna's 23rd district Liesing, run by Confiserie Heindl since 2001, shows 3000 years of chocolate history, from the Xocolatl of the Olmecs to today's praline. It also explains the cultivation, the different varieties and recipes of chocolate and allows a look into the ongoing production.

The museum takes the form of a classic museum with exhibits and pictures, as well as the opportunity to taste different raw chocolates and then take a look at the ongoing production. All processing steps from the cocoa bean to the finished chocolate base are explained: cultivation, harvesting, fermentation, drying, storage, cleaning, roasting, crushing, grinding, fine rolling...

Chocolate museum that is part of Heindl chocolate factory. They have a short film telling about Heindl and process and exhibition showing different ingredients and explaining process of making chocolate. You can taste liquid chocolate of white, dark and milk type. They also conduct workshops of chocolate making for children and adults. There is a factory on the first floor where you can see the process through glass but we could not see that as the production was closed for summer break. You are offered a few varieties to taste and there is a shop where you can buy it. If you are visitor to the museum you get some discount on price in the shop. Overall it was good experience.

Wir haben eine Führung inkl. Pralinen-Workshop gebucht. :)

Bit overpriced at Euro 14 an adult when we went in. It's basically 2 rooms/ small areas. The first small room hosts a small 5 min film about the history of chocolate that you can watch in YouTube. The second area has some choco exhibits, tasters and quizzes where you can feel/ smell and distinguish between choco beans, fruits, sugar etc. There's a minute area upstairs where they host a factory that you can see from outside. That's it. The whole thing will take you max 15 mins and not worth more than Euro 5 max.
