I am extremely disappointed with the experience my family and I have had at Shahdag Mountain Resort. We are a group of 18, checked in today, and the service has been nothing short of appalling from the very beginning.
Upon arrival, there was no bellboy to assist us with our luggage, forcing us to carry half of it ourselves. The receptionist was rude and unwelcoming, and despite this being a supposed 5-star resort, there was no welcome drink or hospitality gesture.
Our dinner experience was even worse. The waiter was shockingly rude and unprofessional, shouting at us as if we were beneath him. The bakery staff literally laughed at my sister when she inquired about a sugar-free cake, making it seem like they were mocking her weight. This kind of body shaming and lack of respect is disgraceful, especially for a high-end establishment.
At another restaurant, we were refused service at 10:00 pm because the kitchen was supposedly closing at 10:30 pm, and the waiter rudely told us we wouldnât have enough time to eat. However, after we mentioned giving feedback, they suddenly served us food, but only after we were subjected to this awful treatment. Meanwhile, other guestsâwhite guestsâwere dining comfortably past 10:45 pm. This clear discrimination against us as South Asians is unacceptable and offensive.
To add to this terrible experience, despite ordering pizza wraps and a full course meal for the entire group, we were charged extra for basic condiments like tomato ketchup and oregano! This is absurd and incredibly petty for a resort that advertises itself as 5-star. Itâs clear they are more interested in squeezing every penny out of their guests than offering decent service.
Adding insult to injury, the hotel has the audacity to charge 10 manat for the kidsâ play area, and when I requested water at midnight, it took over 15 minutes to be delivered.
Weâre here for two nights, but after this first day, I am already regretting this choice. If this is the level of service Shahdag Mountain Resort considers acceptable, then it is nowhere near deserving of its 5-star status. I will update further, but as it stands, I would never recommend this hotel to anyone.
