Island Getaway, Swimming Pigs At Paradise — Attraction in New Providence

Captain Jay, J and Aidan created the most picture perfect day for my family and I. From the moment we stepped onto the boat, we felt like family. I cannot even being to describe our experience with Captain Jay and his A-team crew. I only wish I can portray the emotion I feel writing this review into words that can equate to the best day of our lives as a family, together. The education of the island and Bahamian culture before we even saw the pigs made us so appreciative of even being here on this vacation. Of course, seeing the pigs was the most unreal experience ever, they were the cutest, most well behaved and expressive animals ever. The emotion the animals expressed completely showed how these animals trusted their handlers. The passion behind handling the piglets and pigs and just the entire Island Getaway company in itself was so inspirational. To see this crew excited to show us the island and discuss their culture was even more refreshing. Everyone should be like Captain Jay, J and Aidan when doing and talking about their job. As a family, we can’t talk about this experience enough. We are so grateful for this crew specifically and all the pigs we met! Pros: beautiful beaches, great wildlife, the pigs were very friendly. The boat ride was short with only 10 people so it was a more intimate experience and we were able to pet the pigs. The boat was clean and the trip to and from the island was short.

Cons: The captain, Jay, singled me out and made me very uncomfortable to the point of ruining my experience. I was the only non-white passenger on the boat and not only did the captain begin the journey by making fun of me holding on to the railing while seated, but also made flippant remarks when I decided to only partake in the pigs portion of the experience. He also served me an expired, rust covered beer. Not my friend traveling with me, nor any other passenger, received the same treatment. Although he was knowledgeable about conservation and sea fairing, if he cannot politely interact with people from all backgrounds, I highly recommend that he not do so. I'm highly disappointed in this company and will never recommend them. My family and I were supposed to go on the pig island adventure in early November but the trip had to be cancelled due to the hurricane that passed by the Bahama islands. As advertised and explained at the time of the booking, a full refund would be issued if the trip were to be cancelled due to inclement weather. I've emailed them numerous times with no response. I've called several times and spoke to a male employee who assured me each time that my refund was in the que and due to be processed. So far, five months later, I'm still waiting and owed more than $1,200. I do not blame them for cancelling the trip but their customer service and failure to follow through on their commitment to a refund...
