If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. After researching pig beaches and discovering that so many are poorly managed and mistreat their animals, I finally came across Sandy Toes—and I’m so glad I did. If you are going to do a pig encounter, PLEASE ONLY DO THIS ONE. These pigs are rescues from Bahamian slaughterhouses, and it’s clear they are incredibly well-loved and cared for. Their trainers are so passionate about them that they could talk about them all day. Everything is done on the pigs’ own terms—if they don’t want to participate in something, they are free to make that choice. What makes Sandy Toes even more special is the variety of other animals you’ll find there. From chickens and peacocks to many other rescued creatures, it’s a haven for wildlife. We even got to witness part of the training process, as the trainers gently coaxed Billie the goat into the water. It was a slow, thoughtful process, and their care and patience were evident. The snorkelling was absolutely out of this world. Before getting in the water, they made sure we were completely safe with a detailed debriefing on how to snorkel responsibly and what to expect. We had the amazing opportunity to see two turtles just going about their day in their natural environment, which was a truly breathtaking experience. The food was excellent, and the bar offered a great selection of cocktails. The ONLY downsides: 1) It took a very long time to set sail at the start, meaning we missed out on some of the time we had paid for. 2) The snorkelling area was quite crowded, so there was a lot of bumping into others and a few close calls with getting kicked. Despite these small issues, the entire experience was priceless. As a Brit, this felt like something out of a dream—it’s hard to believe a place like this exists. I would have given anything to spend more time there. Thank you to the amazing staff who make the experience unforgettable for guests and, most importantly, give these beautiful animals a better life.

We came here for an excursion during our honeymoon this past week and oh my goodness you have to go! The trip was only about a 20-25 minute boat ride from Paradise Island. Once you got to Rose Island you were welcomed by some of the pigs. As soon as you saw the pigs you can see they were happy. The staff was super friendly from start to finish. We were able to go snorkeling, swim with the pigs and were provided a complementary lunch and open bar. Make sure to bring cash. There is a cash deposit for the snorkeling gear but you get it back. Lunch was delicious. We were able to enjoy some salad, chicken, and rice. They had water and lemonade too. Was a perfect meal for the day trip. Snorkeling was done at first. We had a rain cloud come in right as we finished up. It was perfect timing. The pigs come out about every 20-30 minutes to meet them all. The trainers were very informative about the pigs training and letting us be interactive with feeding them. You might want to watch your drinks though. Some of the pigs will knock them over. The pigs were such a wonderful encounter. One last recommendation is look to sign up through a vendor downtown if possible. It was a fairly costly trip going through the hotel. With all of that, Sandy Toes on Rose Island should be on your excursion list visiting the Bahamas.

Absolutely fantastic & Oink-forgettable 🐷🐽🥰 Nassau is so cool, Rose Island is paradise and the waters over there are beyond gorgeous. You start with an adorable welcome. Larry will say hi from the dock. Then a quick guided snorkeling session where you can see lots of beautiful fish, turtles & spider starfish. Next you move over to the other side of the island where you can get an adult beverage (i had Crabby Sandy's to my hearts content 🤭) and get lost in the beauty surrounding you. Then, it's play time and you get to have as much or as little interaction with your adorable piggy hosts. You have a lunch break and let me tell you that chicken is tasty AF 🤤. Last but not least, the staff members are awesome. Cody was kind, courteous and kept us safe and organized. The piggy trainers were super cool, helped us with pictures and made sure we had a safe and happy interaction with all those cute little hosts. My mom was so happy! First cruise, first time in the Bahamas, first time in Nassau and first time playing with swimming 🐷. Sandy Toes staff, thank you for making our visit memorable!!! 🎉🐷🌊🏝️🫶

An Unforgettable Experience with Sandy Toes, Rose Island, Bahamas – Swimming with Pigs Done Right! 🐷🇧🇸💗

From start to finish, our experience with Sandy Toes was nothing short of amazing. The booking process was incredibly simple, and every question I had was answered promptly and professionally — a great first impression that carried through the entire excursion.

Check-in upon arrival was a breeze, and what truly set this excursion apart was the phenomenal staff 👍 The team at Sandy Toes went above and beyond to make our day unforgettable. Their warmth, attentiveness, and energy truly elevated the entire experience.

One major highlight for us was the private beach — a huge plus, especially when traveling with a senior family member. Boarding and exiting the boat was smooth and easy, with no awkward transfers or banana boats involved (we made that mistake last year elsewhere). Sandy Toes really makes comfort and accessibility a priority 🏝️

The island itself is absolutely gorgeous — lush, well-maintained, and designed for both relaxation and fun. And let me tell you, the pigs are clearly well cared for and healthy. I’ve read some horror stories about other companies, but this was the complete opposite. No poop, no sores — just happy, friendly pigs ready to swim, play, and pose for photos.

The team brought the pigs out multiple times, allowing for small group interactions. We got to feed, pet, and even “race” them — and my 2½-year-old granddaughter was completely enchanted. She had an absolute blast, and so did we! ❤️

I was a bit concerned about too much sun exposure ☀️ for my granddaughter, but Sandy Toes had us covered — literally. There were plenty of shaded loungers and covered decks, making it easy to stay cool and comfortable throughout the day.

The food and drinks 🍹🍻 were another highlight! A delicious BBQ chicken meal with pasta salad hit the spot, and the open bar was a fantastic bonus. Their signature lemonade 🍋 was a refreshing treat.

All in all, Sandy Toes delivered one of the best excursions we’ve experienced — safe, well-run, family-friendly, and just plain fun. It was a standout highlight of our trip to the Bahamas, and I truly can’t recommend it...

(Sunday July 22) We had quite a bit of rain towards the end of the day but was still my favorite experience of our whole trip! I found the whole excursion to be very well organized and the staff were the friendliest people we met our entire stay. We were greeted with a generous serving of rum punch to kick off our day and had a very enjoyable ferry ride over. (Tip: if you sit on the bottom deck in the very back, you will unload onto the island first!) We walked over to the beach first and got a spot under an umbrella and enjoyed the beautiful beach and crystal clear sea. Snorkeling was offered all day - right off the pier on the other side of the island - go at your leisure for as long as you want as many times as you want. We had no problems getting our snorkel gear (10$ refundable deposit) and locker (optional and was only $5 or so). We saw plenty of fish and even got to watch them being fed by the staff. Was super cute and felt very safe. The buffet lunch was great and plentiful. I believe I also saw bags of chips for sale at the bar and drinks were much more affordable than what we were used to spending in the Bahamas (less than $10 for cocktails)

FINALLY the pigs!!! This is what I was most excited for even though the reviews I read said it would only be a 15 minute ordeal. They actually let the pigs come out about every 30 minutes, they had 3 ADORABLE piglets and a couple larger pigs. Everyone who wanted to had plenty of time to engage with them, feed them and take plenty of pictures. I was going to do the powerboat/Exuma excursion solely for the pigs but this was way closer and much less expensive. So excited I found out about this relatively hidden gem (thanks to Reddit) and would recommend...
