Forfar field station is a wonderful place -- it's a beautiful and peaceful setting, I enjoyed spending time on the beach deck and just taking in the sights and sounds of My surroundings. The interns are great, very knowledgeable and helpful. They were a great resource on a recent trip to Andros. I love that they are self sufficient.

Every year Mr. Roberts a principle and science teacher at Newark Highschool organized a spring break dive trip to the IFS camp for about 18 kids. I was fortunate enough to make that trip twice in 1975 and 76. Just as mentioned in an earlier review it was a trip of a life time. Here it is almost 50 years later and I am thrilled to see the program is still thriving. As stated back then there was the lodge but the best place to stay was the beach camp in tents and I remember the adults saying we needed the hurry to make sure we got there first to claim the beach! There was an old school house at the beach site, hope it is still there, with a large two sided double hole outhouse. The lodge had generator electricity a couple of hours a night but the beach site did not. Limited fresh water so the only bath that week was a swim in a fresh water blue hole, no soap allowed. I met my first boyfriend, and a best friend on this trip and developed a life long love of water based camping, so much so that I retired to an island. Thank you IFS for providing this opportunity. If I can find find my pictures I will post of the...

Went there just out of high school in 1973 with about a dozen teens and 4 adult chaperones. Slept in tents next to the beach. Snorkeled and saw fish of every color. Sat down on the bottom of 4 feet deep water and a school of small fish surrounded me in a circle and swam around me. A 3 foot hammerhead shark checked me out there too. It bolted when I stood up to tell my friend. There was no shower there back then, but thankfully a toilet. We took 1 " shower " that week at a blue hole of fresh water, dumping water over each other ( with swimsuits on,lol ) Bought souvenirs from locals who lived in grass huts. It was an amazing week and cost $225 for a ride down to Fla via the V.W. van International Field studies provided in Columbus, the airplane ride over and all our meals, one of which included 2 giant lobster tails, deep fried conch and land crab, all of which were allowed to be taken by members of our group from the area. Memories...

It was wonderful getting to spend the week here. I went with a group of students from my college the week of July 4th-11th. The interns were amazing, especially Dale and Carolin.

This is definitely a trip for those that enjoy the outdoors. We went with a group of painters and biology students so while they set up to paint landscapes we would wander off to hike in the area and then come back to grab the art students and swim for the rest of the afternoon. Everyone enjoyed it so much the majority of us are looking to go back again, this to me...
