Conception Island has a unique habitat of mangrove swamps with crystal clear water and white sands. These shallow yet extensive tidal pools are a nursery for marine life which offers protection from predators as well as being protected from harm by humans.
Fairly decent anchorages with good sand holding may be found on the western side and southeastern side of the island. North has many reefs. Anchorages have some swell and may require moving locations with a change in wind direction.
Entrance to the tidal pools is located a short distance south of the western anchorage. A dinghy may navigate the entrance with care as long as large waves are not present. The entrance does require tight maneuvering due to rock outcroppings and shallow water. Rowing may be the best option to enter on an incoming tide and exit on an outgoing tide.
