Royal Golf Club — Attraction in Capital Governorate

This has been by far the worst golf club experience I’ve ever had. I was a regular for almost two years, and instead of improving, the service kept getting worse. The staff are rude, unprofessional, and have zero respect for their customers.

The rules change almost every single day depending on their mood. There are no clear policies, just random decisions that make no sense. I’ve personally faced multiple unethical and unprofessional situations — every person gives a different answer, and nobody takes responsibility.

The final straw was when I bought an item and tried to return it immediately, only to be refused my money back. On top of that, they ruined the Core Golf service by changing it from unlimited to limited, added extra charges, and now even control how you get golf balls. If you borrow a ball from someone, they threaten to punish that person — absolutely ridiculous.

The behavior here is beyond disrespectful and unethical. I will never come back, and I strongly warn others to think twice before wasting their time and money at this place. This place should be avoided...

It's hard not to give this place 5-stars, but having golfed in a few countries at this point, there are some thing holding Royal back. The course itself is well designed and technical. It's not particularly long, but the slim fairways and placement of waste bunkers makes it a difficult and un forgiving course. A wonderful challenge. The tournaments are fun but the club could do a lot more to advertise them! The club has two major downsides, one obvious is the price. But they have no real competition on island so there isn't a lot to be done there. They do some deals occasionally, but should do more. Empty tee times are wasted tee times. The second area is in maintenance. The availability of balls on the practice range is hit and miss at times. My fellow members don't often take time to repair divots, fill in large digs, and rake bunkers while on the course. And it should be more closely monitored. This last point is something they are trying to change, but it seems to be a culture of negligence with some members and guests. Which is unfortunate and leads to...

My first golf experience is undeniably amazing.

We booked 9hole Wee Monty course 24hrs in advance. We have been told about the procedures and dress code.

When we arrived, the staff led us to the RGC shop to pay and check-in. If it is your first time, they will advise you to buy your own balls; 1 box is enough. (Gloves too if you want). Then you will be provided with set of golf clubs with trolley.

Next, we proceeded to the practice range where swings are unlimited. :)) some staff are helpful and will even give you a quick guide on proper grip and swing.

Then, after the practice, we headed to the course. It was easy, map will be provided as well a scoring card. The course are well directed and easy to locate.

Refreshment is available within the field but it is a little bit pricey.

I must say that I enjoyed every minute of it. Take your time to finish the course but also be mindful when the course is busy.

The game is highly recommended to any group; whether couple, family or friends. It’s a great sport to unwind...
