We recently visited Aldar Island and had high hopes for a relaxing and fun day. We had pre-booked the majlis for the entire day and were excited about enjoying the advertised water activities, including jet skis and banana boat rides. While the location was beautiful and we did enjoy the beach and the overall ambiance, there were several major issues that left us very disappointed.

The biggest letdown was the lack of available water activities, which was one of the main reasons we chose this destination. Despite being shown a full list of available activities and even receiving a quotation in advance, we were told upon arrival that only one jet ski was working on the entire island. This resulted in long queues, and eventually we were informed we wouldn’t be able to ride at all. We also asked about the banana boat, but were told it wasn’t available either — again due to the lack of functioning jet skis.

It was incredibly frustrating to see multiple jet skis sitting idle, while staff insisted they were not operational. This feels like misleading advertising — promoting full water activity packages while failing to deliver when guests arrive. Had we known about these limitations beforehand, we would have reconsidered the booking.

Additionally, the majlis was not properly cleaned — sand was all over the seating area, which is not what you’d expect after paying for a full-day booking.

To make things worse, the staff member in charge of handling the jet ski queue seemed unprofessional and dismissive. He lacked basic customer service skills, and instead of offering solutions, he simply shut down conversations.

In summary, Aldar Island is a beautiful place, but if you’re booking with expectations of water activities and proper service, you may be very disappointed. What we experienced was false advertising and poor customer care, and we hope the management takes real steps to...

The worst resort I’ve ever been to, 0 stars. I usually don’t write reviews but I had to make an exception for this one. There is no formal restaurant as far as I know because all you do is order to your chalet/hut and the food is very expensive for no reason and it’s not even served hot. The milkshakes which are form Baskin Robbin’s taste like sweetened milk and took 15 minutes to serve and another 15 minutes to serve my friend Diet Cola(in a can). The mattresses are very hard and not adequate for sleeping. The guy who worked there had said we broke the lock even though we hadn’t broken anything and he specifically told us that we hadn’t broken anything after pointing out that something might be broken inside and upon inspection, he lied to us and tried to get us to pay 100 BHD for the lock then proceeded to raise his voice at us. And then tried to get us to pay another 10 BHD for wiping our feet(that had sand on them) on a towel on the floor that could be easily washed. You don’t see any resort try to do the stuff they did and ASK the customers to pay for any damage(we hadn’t done any) and threaten to call the manager on their customers. A lot of the employees have zero respect for the customer as if they did, they wouldn’t have shouted at them, and have no idea of...

Not sure why they have to take our passports at the office to be given back on the boat. Saw the van driver walk off with our passports to show them to his friends and then openly was flicking through them for no reason. The price on weekend is 8 BD per person. That includes the boat, entrance and food voucher of value of 2BD. The bar and shop had no staff so had to walk around for someone. The cocktails were small plastic cup with 80% ice and price was 2.5BD for one. The food was big portion. Had to wait 35 minutes for it, but it was nice.

The atmosphere was ok until some random men in boats started parking up on the outside swim line of the island and blasting loud music and shouting. Then another men in jet skis kept parking up there.

Also would be good if they implement children and non children area as I don’t find it particularly peaceful when kids are running screaming and splashing. Spent a whole day there and did not see one life guard.

The sun loungers were nice, but turns out they have mattress blanket cover to use but only found out after seeing someone else take one from a random room next to bar.

Water is nice, super warm. Very nice to enjoy...

My weekend at Al Dar Island was absolutely fantastic! From the moment I arrived, the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, making my entire stay a pleasant experience. The grounds were stunning, and the peaceful waters added to the serene atmosphere. My stay in chalet 6 was comfortable, especially the unexpectedly cozy bed. We opted for one of the huts overlooking the water, providing a truly relaxing setting. For those who prefer to avoid the view of the oil refinery, there are huts facing away from it as well. The food and drinks exceeded my expectations, and I thoroughly enjoyed every bite, as shown in the picture where I even managed to eat the entire fish except for the bones! Unfortunately, there were a couple of drawbacks. I encountered dry urine on the toilet seat in my chalet, which was disappointing. Despite carrying cleaning products and taking care of it myself, such oversights are never acceptable. Additionally, the shower had a noticeable amount of mildew. I understand the challenges of combating mildew in a beachfront location, but it was still unpleasant to see.
