Kuakata, the Daughter of the Sea: Where Sunrise and Sunset Blend Together Kuakata is not just a sea beach; it is one of those rare places in South Asia where nature displays its two most beautiful forms—sunrise and sunset—from the same stage. Known as the 'Daughter of the Sea', this enchanting beach is not just a tourist spot, but a feeling that draws travel lovers to it again and again. Unique Geographical Location Located in the Kalapara sub-district of Patuakhali, Kuakata's 18-kilometer-long beach is shaped like a bow. Because of this unique geography, one can watch the reddish sun rise from the heart of the sea and also enjoy the sight of it disappearing into the ocean water at the end of the day. The Calmness of Sunrise and the Magic of Sunset An ethereal scene is created when the first rays of the sun peek through the morning mist from behind the casuarina forest. The rising sun, spreading a red glow, and the calm roar of the sea create a heavenly atmosphere. In the afternoon, a play of colors begins in the western sky. The moment when the horizon becomes colorful with a mix of orange, purple, and red, and the sun slowly sinks into the sea, is hard to describe in words. These two scenes are the main attractions of Kuakata. What to See Beyond the Beach Kuakata's attractions are not limited to its beach. There are many other noteworthy places scattered around: * Fatrar Bon (Fatra's Forest): This is a part of the Sundarbans, also known as the 'Second Sundarbans'. Traveling to this forest by trawler (engine boat) is a thrilling experience. Mangrove trees and various wild animals can be seen here. * Rakhain Village and Buddhist Monastery: The Rakhain community lives near Kuakata. Their lifestyle, culture, and hand-woven clothes are particularly attractive to tourists. The octo-alloy Buddha statue, weighing about 37 maunds (approx. 1380 kg), located at the Shima Buddhist Monastery is a must-see. * Kakrar Char (Crab Island) and Lebur Char (Lemon Island): Located on the eastern side of Kuakata beach, these two islands are famous for red crabs. The sight of millions of red crabs scurrying around during high tide is mesmerizing. * Shutki Polli (Dried Fish Village): A village dedicated to dried fish has developed right next to the beach. Here, you can see the struggles of the fishermen's lives and the process of drying various species of fish up close.
