This popular Shakti Shrine is 31 away from Agartala and is located beside the international border of our neighbouring country, Bangladesh. The serene lake in front of the temple ads to the enigmatic charm of this place. Although Maharaja Kaliyan Manikya started the work, Maharaja Dhanya Manikya ultimately built this temple in the late 15th century. The name and fame of this Shakti shine draws substantial religious minded tourists from far and wide. The deity installed inside the temple is of goddess Durga but as the base platform has an image of Shiva , the ten handed Durga fighting the buffalo demon Mahisasur is worshiped as goddess kali. The area where the temple is located is also known as  kasba which is a farsi word meaning town. The ancient name of the place was Kamalagarh or koilagarh. After defeating Surja, the then ruler of Bengal, Maharaja Kalyan Manikya built this fort to further secure the princely kingdom of Tripura. A town ship gradually developed around the fort and the name koilagarh faced into oblivion being replaced by the name kasba. Maharaja Dhanya Manikya (1940-1520) dug a large water body in front of the temple and named it kamalasagar following the of his wife kamaladevi. Over the years the durga temple of kalian Manikya turned into a kali temple of kasba. History is that Nawab Hossain Shah of Bengal invaded kasba but was defeated by the Maharaja Dhanya manikya army and fled away to save his life. Presently Indo-Bangla Border Hut established here for which it is also a special attraction of the visitors. Every year a big fair is held near the temple in the month of April and thousands of devotees throng to offer their puja in the temple.

The Kamaleshwari Temple is located in a beautiful lake known as the Kamalasagar and it is about 25 kilometres away from Agartala. The Kamaleshwari Temple is dedicated to Goddess Kali, the goddess of Shakti. Goddess Kali is the principal deity in Tripura and for this reason the Kamaleshwari Temple is also known as the Kasba Kali Bari by the local population. The temple is always crowded since many devotees and tourists from around the world visit the temple. The temple was built in the 15th Century and the worshipping of the Goddess Kali is still carried out following the rituals of the royal lineage. The temple is located near the border of Bangladesh and the location is really beautiful surrounded by green grassland and a relaxing lake which is also one of the main tourist attractions with a scenic beauty of great serenity.Just near the kamalasagar lake we can heard the whistle of the trains from Bangladesh , what a memorable & mesmerizing ambiance it is. Pera sweets which are available near the temple are very tasty & of good quality too. Overall my experience is amazing and a must visit who are visiting Tripura. To reach the Kamaleshwar Temple from Agartala one need to hire a taxi from Agartala or can take a mode of public transportation from Agartala to Ambassa and Kamalpur.

Kasba Kali Temple, located right on the Indo-Bangladesh border near Agartala, is a peaceful and spiritually uplifting destination. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Kali, and the serene surroundings make it a must-visit for both devotees and tourists. The most unique highlight is its excellent location directly on the international border, offering a clear and close view of Bangladesh across the fence. Visitors can experience the geographical significance of standing right at the border line. Earlier, there was a Bangla Market near the temple, which was open for visitors to explore products from Bangladesh. Unfortunately, this market has remained closed since the COVID pandemic, but the border view remains a major attraction. The temple is clean, well-maintained, and the area is safe under BSF supervision. Visitors can easily drive right up to the temple gate with convenient parking available. The atmosphere is peaceful, with no rush, allowing devotees to enjoy darshan comfortably.
