Parki Sea Beach: A Hidden Gem Near Chattogram
Parki Sea Beach, also known as "Parkir Char Sea Beach," is located just an hour to an hour and a half away from Chattogram city. While Cox’s Bazar and Patenga Beach were once the only well-known beaches in the region, Parki Beach has gradually gained popularity. On one side, you’ll find lush green casuarina forests, and on the other, the vast blue waters of the sea, welcoming visitors with breathtaking beauty. The gentle sea breeze will instantly lift your spirits. Chattogram, often referred to as the city of beaches, is home to several natural beaches, and Parki Beach is one of them. However, to reach it, you must cross the Karnaphuli River from Chattogram city. The beach is rich in natural diversity, featuring red crabs, casuarina forests, and much more.
In the past, the road to Parki Beach was not well-developed. However, as more travelers began visiting, authorities renovated the road, making it smooth and accessible. Additionally, security measures have been strengthened. Alongside the beach, under the shade of the casuarina trees, numerous food stalls and small shops have emerged, offering visitors refreshments and souvenirs.
Visitors can enjoy speedboat rides on the sea, explore the shoreline on sea bikes or horseback, and take in the serene surroundings. These activities are available for a fixed hourly rental fee. Walking north along the casuarina forest, you’ll reach the confluence of the Bay of Bengal and the Karnaphuli River, a mesmerizing sight for nature lovers.
How to Reach Parki Sea Beach First Route: Take a CNG auto-rickshaw from Chattogram city and ask the driver to drop you at Patenga 15 No. Jetty. From there, cross the Karnaphuli River by boat. Once on the other side, take an auto-rickshaw to Parki Beach. The fare is around 100 BDT. To return, follow the same route. The total travel time from Chattogram city to Parki Beach is about one hour.
Alternatively, you can reach Parki Beach directly via the third Karnaphuli Bridge, but this route takes more time and costs more.
Second Route: From any part of Chattogram city, take a bus or tempo to the Shah Amanat Bridge (third Karnaphuli Bridge). From there, take a bus heading toward Bottoli Mohsin Auliya Mazar in Anwara Upazila. Be careful not to confuse Bottoli with Boiltoli, as they are different locations. Ask the bus conductor to drop you at a place called Center, which is actually Malkhan Bazar but commonly referred to as "Center." The bus fare is 25-30 BDT per person. From Center, you can take a CNG auto-rickshaw to Parki Beach for 100-150 BDT.
Before heading to the beach, you may purchase food and other essentials from Center Bazar or the market near Chattogram Urea Fertilizer Housing Colony, as shops on the beach may not have everything you need.
If you prefer to hire a CNG auto-rickshaw directly from Chattogram city to Parki Beach, the fare is 400-500 BDT.
