Nice place to time pass

The Bangladesh Betar Transmission Centre at Kalurghat in Chittagong has turned into a 'Mini Bangladesh' under the project titled 'Shadhinata Complex'. Giving visitors a glimpse of rich historical background and heritage, life of people and their different cultures, flora and fauna of Bangladesh is the main objective behind the concept of 'Mini Bangladesh'. A source in the construction firm said all development works of the Shadhinata Complex have completed. The Shadhinata Complex has been built to keep the memory and various aspects of the glorious war of independence afresh in the minds of people, particularly the future generations through preserving and developing the historic site properly. The Concord Engineering and Construction Ltd has implemented the project under the supervision of the Public Works Department. The ministry of liberation war affairs had undertaken the scheme. The main feature of the Shadhinata Complex includes a big size fountain and a replica of Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban at the centre of a huge water body, a colorfully adorned spacious entrance, an over 200 feet high tower with stairs, elevators and modern restaurants, a public park, a long tunnel for monorail track, three rail station buildings keeping similarity with the Church of Saint Nicholas at Gazipur, Choto Sona Mosque and Baro Khuiti in Rajshahi, replicas of Carzon Hall, National Monument at Savar, Lalbagh Fort, Ahsa Manjil, Paharpur Monastery and homes of different tribal people in the country. Besides, the work of other amusement facilities, including rides such as a number of food kiosks, family coasters, ferries wheels, 12 horses carousel, paddle boats and kiddies swing, are also completed.

Historical back ground: During President Ziaur Rahman period of power, Zia was criticized for ruthless treatment of his army opposition. Although he enjoyed overall popularity and public confidence, Zia's rehabilitation of some of the most controversial men in Bangladesh aroused fierce opposition from the supporters of the Awami League and veterans of its Mukti Bahini. Amidst speculation and fears of unrest.

President Ziaur Rahman went on tour to Chittagong on 29 May 1981 to help resolve an intra party political dispute in the regional B.N.P. It is a park located next to Bahaddarat Bus Terminal in Chittagong city of Bangladesh. It is basically a theme park where various sights and historical buildings of Bangladesh have been recreated. Genre: Urban Garden Area : 11 acres (0.045 km2) Produced by: Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, Bangladesh Owned by: Ministry of Liberation War Affairs Freedom Complex is located next to Bahaddarhat Bus Terminal under Chandgaon Thana of Chittagong city. Kalurghat Independent Bangla Betar Kendra is situated on its north-east side. Shaheed Zia Memorial Complex was established in 2006 under the Ministry of Liberation War in the name of former Bangladesh President Ziaur Rahman. Later it was named as Independence Complex. Which is also known as Mini Bangladesh. It is also known as Mini Bangladesh as it is a theme park combining various sights and historical structures of Bangladesh. Freedom Complex has - * Bangladesh National Parliament Building, * Ahsan Manzil, * Supreme Court, *Artificial water bodies, * Karjan Hall, * Temple of Kantji, * Court Hall, * large, * small house, * Small Gold Mosque, * Lalbagh Fort, * Paharpur Buddhist Monastery, * National Memorial, * Shahid Minar, * St. Nicholas Church, * Eternal Paradise, * Bridges under trains, * Six Kuches (seating stalls), * Five water fountains and * Three kids zones. Interesting place with several things to do. My favorite part was seeing the models of many prominent structures of Bangladesh. These huge models, some nearly as big as the originals, are very lovingly created and a great way to get a picture of the many tourist options in this beautiful and culturally rich country. There are also several rides for kids, a toy train, and many eating options. I tried the toy train, which covers the entire length of the sizeable park. The top of the tower also offers a nice view of Chittagong. There are some negatives, however. Most of these models are covered with names visitors have left written on them. There must have been over a thousand names inside the Sangsad Bhaban model. I wish people would value public property better. Parts of the park are also quite dirty. The train goes through a tunnel that is filled with filthy, stagnant water and a haven for mosquitoes. The complex's distance from the main city may also discourage visitors. Which might be partly why there were very few people there on a Saturday afternoon (could also be because of a CNG crisis at the time).
