The Sylhet Agricultural University and Sylhet Engineering College are both close to the Tilagarh Ecopark, which is located in a reserve forest. Locals refer to the location as "Aloor Tol - আলুর তল" frequently. There used to be virtually limited access to the large forest and an extremely dense forest. The area's unaltered, naturally created forest with tree canopies and hillocks was a favorite among locals. The environment used to drastically change as soon as you arrived at the Aloor Tol region. The gorgeous dense forest with a variety of mature trees and hillocks becomes more and more engulfing the deeper you go.

The government has since shown interest in it and taken action to protect this exceptional biodiverse forest. In 2006, Tilagarh Eco Parks were built on 112 acres of woodland. The Sylhet Forest Department, Ministry of Environment and Forest, is responsible for this ecopark initiative. An eco park's primary goals include the preservation and development of nearly extinct and rare plant species, the protection and enhancement of current plant and animal life, the breeding and advancement of indigenous plant species through integrated management, the preservation of the local environment and the socioeconomic advancement of the local populace, the growth of the planned ecotourism sector, and the provision of opportunities for study and research. Nine ecoparks have been established by the Department of Forest in different parts of Bangladesh, taking into account their unique natural features and characteristics including location. These include the Bashkhali Ecopark, the Madhavkundo Ecopark, the Madhutila Ecopark, the Sitakunda Botanical Garden and Ecopark, the Tilagarh Ecopark, the Jafflong Garden Park, and the Barshijora Ecopark.

"Numerous species of animals can be spotted in the wild at Tilagarh Ecopark. Foxes, monkeys, jackel, rabbits, pandas, Mathura (Chrysolophus), entellus, and other animals are among them. Additionally, you can find Mayna, parakeets, doves, Haridas, and other varieties of birds here."

Tilagarh Eco Park makes it possible to appreciate the natural beauty of the jungles and learn about their ecology firsthand, which contributes to raising public awareness of the importance of preserving bio-diversity.

Unfortunately, Tilagarh Eco Park utterly failed to raise awareness of bio-diversity of the Eco Park among the general people. The relevant information about the Eco Park is not provided by even a single interpretation display board or information location! Additionally, it has failed to maintain its individuality and natural attractiveness! The beauty and authenticity of this incredible biodiverse ecosystem are currently being hampered by the presence of numerous residential units, government office buildings, college campuses, and universities.

In the park, there is a restroom, a picnic area, and a kids' area. These are intended to be, after all. Children's Corner needs urgent repairs because it is now unfit for kids.

In an effort to boost tourism in Sylhet and increase the number of visitors, the government built a wildlife conservation centre in the Tilagarh Eco Park in 2018. The Wildlife Conservation Centre was constructed carelessly, which is bad for the Eco Park. Animal sightings are quite rare at the Wildlife Conservation Centre!

You must pay to see this natural beauty; entry to the environmental park...

Silhat-Tilagor Eco Park, once a gem nestled in the heart of Sylhet, Bangladesh, was a popular destination for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. Known for its tranquil surroundings and breathtaking views, the park offered a unique opportunity to immerse oneself in the beauty of nature. Its lush green landscapes, scenic hiking trails, and the peaceful ambiance made it a favourite spot for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life.

The park was particularly renowned for its diverse flora and fauna. A walk through the park was like stepping into a green paradise, with towering trees, colourful flowers, and an abundance of wildlife. The tranquil streams that ran through the park added to the serenity, making it an ideal location for visitors looking to relax, meditate, or simply enjoy the fresh air.

Nature enthusiasts were often captivated by the park’s well-maintained walking paths and natural beauty. The park had become a popular spot for eco-tourism, with visitors from both within Bangladesh and abroad coming to experience the diverse ecosystems it housed. The sight of birds flying overhead, the sound of rustling leaves, and the general serenity made it a memorable experience for all who visited.

Unfortunately, the park has been closed due to health and safety concerns, which has left many people saddened by the loss of such a stunning natural haven. The closure may have been a necessary decision to ensure the safety of visitors, as maintaining the park’s infrastructure in a way that balances accessibility with conservation can be a challenging task. There are no detailed reports on the specific reasons for the closure, but it’s likely due to the wear and tear the park experienced over the years and the potential risks of the environment.

Despite this, Silhat-Tilagor Eco Park’s beauty remains in the memories of those who visited. The untouched nature surrounding the park continues to be a reminder of what was once a popular destination. For many, it’s a place that symbolized the rich natural heritage of Sylhet and the importance of preserving such places for future generations.

Though the park is no longer accessible, its legacy endures as a testament to the power of nature and the need to strike a balance between tourism and environmental preservation. Hopefully, in the future, there will be efforts to restore the park and make it safe for visitors once again, allowing more people to enjoy its...

Tilagor Eco Park in Sylhet is a refreshing escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. Tucked away in a lush green area, it’s one of those places where you can breathe deeply, take in the natural beauty, and feel closer to nature. The rolling hills, tall trees, and calm walking trails make it a peaceful spot for families, couples, and nature enthusiasts.

The park is well laid out, with pathways that guide you through different parts of the forested area. It’s a great place for walking, jogging, or simply sitting down to enjoy the fresh air. You’ll see plenty of birds, butterflies, and monkeys around, which makes it especially fun for kids. That said, it would be even better if the park introduced a wider variety of animals and created safe viewing zones for them—this would make the experience more engaging and educational.

Maintenance has improved over the years, but there’s still room for growth. Cleaner seating areas, more rest spots with shade, and better upkeep of the washrooms would really enhance the visitor experience. With proper maintenance and care, this park could easily become one of Sylhet’s top attractions.

Tilagor Eco Park has so much potential. If more animal habitats were introduced, and if the facilities were consistently well maintained, it could rival some of the best eco parks in the region. Still, it’s already a wonderful place to reconnect with nature, take beautiful photos, and enjoy a quiet day surrounded by greenery.

Highly recommended for anyone visiting Sylhet who wants a break from city crowds and a taste of...
