Foursquare Rum - The legendary distillery that is winning spirit competitions around the world - is an amazing, educational, inexpensive and worthwhile visit for anyone with the slightest appreciation for rum. This is a self guided tour that is about 20 miles from Oistins and about 40 miles from Holetown. There is no entrance fee to explore the public areas of the grounds and working distillery. Information is posted regarding the operations and history of the site, which is the oldest Sugar Cane plantation on the island. The anticipated rum tasting is held in a old building from the 1700s, punctuated by shelves of almost every rum ever released under the brand name. The amount of sampling options are enough to make any Rum aficionado jealous and prices for doing both a 5-bottle tasting, and trying additional releases, were extremely reasonable considering most Exceptional Cask releases sell for $150+ when you can find it. In fact, we requested a swap of some bottles in the tasting (w/ extra charge) so that we could taste their very best against the more accessible releases. Compared to the Mount Gay distillery tour, this one is very relaxed, without expectation, and everyone at the property was very friendly and eager to chat about their responsibilities & opinions. Without an entrance fee, compared to $80usd for the Mount Gay St. Lucy tour, this experience is by far the better deal and the rum is better too. :) Try both if you can, but don't miss Foursquare if you have to choose only one.

See you again soon to try 2022's...

Our tasting experience at Foursquare Rum Distillery was truly exceptional, largely thanks to our amazing host! She went above and beyond by personalizing our tasting based on our preferences, which we greatly appreciated. She also shared fascinating facts and educated us thoroughly about rum, including the unique characteristic of Foursquare's spiced rum being the only one without added sugar – the hand demonstration was a fantastic and convincing touch! The tasting was undoubtedly the highlight of our visit. Our guide even kindly offered to take a picture of us, which was a lovely gesture and a great souvenir.

The distillery itself is set in a charming location, and we appreciated the freedom to explore the grounds at our own pace. However, the self-guided tour could be improved with clearer signage. We found ourselves a bit unsure of the designated areas, as the mentioned yellow arrows were not immediately obvious. Thankfully, a helpful employee noticed our confusion and kindly guided us. Despite this navigational hiccup, the outstanding tasting and the overall atmosphere make Foursquare a worthwhile visit for rum...

This distillery is WELL worth a visit. Although it’s not in Bridgetown, it is only a short and picturesque drive away from the city. An Imposing entrance and drive way. Free parking. Unlike the Mt. Gay facility in Bridgetown, which only has a short tour of one room with pictures on the wall, a 7 minute film and a tasting session, all of which you pay for! The Foursquare tour is Free! Yes. Here you get to walk around all the distillery and the stills, vats, process machines etc., which you can Not do at Mt. Gay. Then tasting in a lovely old bar afterwards (yes you pay for the drinks, but the price is right and at $24 Barbados for whole a bottle of Rum, way cheaper than the Mt. Gay tour cost) is a great experience. Here you get to walk around all the distillery and the stills, vats, process machines etc., which you can Not do at Mt. Gay. The distillery grounds are amazing, large, well maintained. A museum and venues for concerts, weddings etc. It does look a bit past it’s best, but they have so much potential here for any one who is interested. A Really Good Place To...
