Very unfriendly and threatening staff. Visited in july on a trip around island with a tour company. Did not have time for tour of facility but just wanted a few minutes to take photos. The unfriendly staff practically ushered me out of the area and closed the gate in my face and smiled. I found the staff threatening and very unfriendly. I have placed a review to this on TripAdvisor to warn other visitors. The staff have responded to my review by fabricating lies about the incident. I have complained to Tripadviser about this and await a response . Unfortunately I am unable to respond on TripAdvisor Please please read this review and take note this is not a good place to visit . All other places visited especially the Morgan Lewis windmill could not have been more welcoming to visitors even if not taking the official tour. Barbados people are wonderfull and I am sure this is the exception . Best not to go...

Like Bathsheba National Park, Gun Hill Signal Station is not a particularly good stop on a tour...this location is beautiful and there is an excellent little convenience store on site to provide you woth delicious refreshments, but this is a site that works better as an event site...

I am sire there are many weddings on this site that take advantage of the beautiful vistas, but this location would be great for any parry among friends...even something as simple as a birthday party or a place to collectively view and celebrate your favorite soccer team dominating their rivals.

Take my advice...give yourself at least an hour at this location...take in the sights, but also give yourself enough time to relax and enjoy the opportunity to read a book or even just flip through your phone while you are surroinded by...

Situated in the center of the island of Barbados, in the green fertile parish of St. George. At almost 800 feet elevation with fantastic views of the Southwest and West coast of the island. The Bridetown cruise terminal can be seen from here. The station is one of 6 that was built in 1818 in response to the 1816 slave revolt. A must visit for any military history follower as a small convalescent hospital was attach there and was part of the military hospital when the British were station here in the colonial period. A must visit once you are...

Pros: Exceeded expectations. Expected good views but they were !!! Went on Saturday and very quiet.. Took a short video because photos just can't capture it.They have play area for kids. Clean washrooms. Very friendly welcome. Wasn't sure if I wanted to pay the entrance if 15 but so glad I did. Flowers, Old lights leading up the trail. Cons: Would have like to see the old Cannons in action and see how far cannonballs could travel...could they reach the ocean and take out the vicious Pirates? One can dream?

Very cool signal station with an interesting history. Beautiful view from the top of the tower and lots of interesting posters and maps that help you understand the historical context. We also had lunch there - which was lovely. Choice of a starch, meat, and salad, as well as a drink. The price for this was included in the tour I was on so I can't comment on the food prices, but the drinks prices I saw at the bar were pretty pricey so I would expect the food to be too.

Gun Hill Signal Station (1818) in central Barbados initially communicated with five other signal stations around the island using a semaphore system with flags. The kitchen at Gun Hill Signal Station contained an open hearth with a chimney and spit. The usual diet of 19th century British soldiers (pork, rice, beans, and flour) was supplemented here by local fruits, vegetables, and spices.
