This observatory is a gem! Arrived at 7 PM on a Friday. Got to listen to a private lecture from Stephen Watson — a Principal at NASA’s “JPL” — on the current Clipper Mission to Europa. He stayed to answer all of our Q’s. Wow a treat. Then headed outside where 3 telescopes were set up to view Mars, Jupiter, and Venus. Seeing Jupiter’s moons will forever be an imprint on my mind. The staff was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Used a laser pointer to explain the night sky Finally, we climbed to the upstairs observatory where the guide would take viewing requests. For the first time, I got to see the Andromeda Galaxy! So great for kids. What a fantastic astronomical community

I love spending a Friday night learning more about the universe and looking up. The Society has a mix of lectures, game nights and celestial body observations which is great for lovers of space! I became a member within 2 visits and the members lead with warmth and enthusiasm for all of your space-related questions 🔭 A must see as a local and tourist of the island.

If you have an interest in astronomy this is a great place to see and visit. I had never been in an observatory before and it was a beautiful experience. Some great views of the stars and the moon from the observatory and the telescopes on the ground. There is definitely a passion for stargazing here

Interesting observatory the only one in Barbados. The staff provided useful information in the visit but the engagement outside of this could use some enhancement.

Kids friendly entertainment is needed such as asking them specifics about the universe as we know it or including some games within the facility.

The main room is small and could use some enhancing, space is a bit tight. Some brochures or useful guides can be incorporated so you leave with the information to continue your own explorations. Could also incorporate a souvenir shop.

Outside of this it still was a pretty good time, take your family or significant other and make...

Went on a Jupiter evening and apart from looking at Jupiter and M104 and a short talk nothing else was on offer. It would have been nice if telescopes were available to view other objects in the sky? Good that about 30 people turned up for evening, especially for the observatory and astronomy but too much hanging around. When we have done sessions with general public we have several telescopes looking at various objects, keeps the interest of the people attending and not much...
