Absolutely love this place. Went a few times during my stay and it was mainly because the staff was so welcoming. Did a walking tour with Ra’Jae and she was amazing. I did the walking tour with her and she was very knowledgeable about the history of the windmill and the grounds. She answered every question I had. I also drove all the way from Oistins just to have their fish cakes because they were that good. During my second visit I was able to meet the owner who was absolutely amazing as well. As my husband & I sat & enjoyed out fish cakes & drinks, @chewiltshire_drawing offered to draw a portrait of us that only took him about 20 mins. We absolutely loved it here. So peaceful & scenic. I’ll definitely come back here again when I’m in Barbados.

We thoroughly enjoyed popping in here for an hour. It’s a small site : 20 minutes investigating the historic windmill, the rest enjoying the view from the cafe, which serves good basic snacks and drinks. Very helpful and friendly lady told us a little about the history of the windmill but admitted she wasn’t the expert, who wasn’t on site. It could do with a few information boards for those who don’t want to pay for the tour. But we’d go back next time we’re on the island, even if it’s just to have a light lunch and admire the view.

This was an absolutely delightful stop on our self-guided tour of the island. While the windmill was damaged and not operational when we stopped in (November 2024) due to storm damage, it was still an impressive sight. We paid for a guided tour and learned so much about the island and the history of the windmill. We also got a complimentary sketch of our group by a local artist (which we tipped for), and it was a special memento for our group! I recommend stopping in if you have time to see this unique landmark.

Nice bit of history one of oldest wooden windmills in the world

The largest and only complete sugar windmill surviving in the Caribbean. The wind-driven machinery that ground the sugarcane in the 18th and 19th centuries is still intact.

The mill includes an exhibit of the equipment used to produce sugar at the time when the industry was run by windpower generated from mills such as this one.

Although the old plantation house has seen better days it is still worth a visit! The rubble walls are comprised of boulders held together with a mixture of egg-white and coral dust (there was no cement when this plantation house...
