Elitist beach with no public access
Basically there is no public access to the beach. You cannot purchase drinks and there are signs separating the private and public land. We managed to get on to the beach, 6 of us including a baby and a child under 5 via a hotel, who reluctantly let us through. The beach is indeed one of the most stunning in Barbados however the elitist nature of the people was very off putting, an American woman was too delighted to tell me that the bars were exclusively for the use of the Sandy Lane home owners. When we walked to the end there was no way off. My daughter walked through the sea along the edge of the coast and was fortunate enough to find a local fisherman and his boat who literally rescued us from the beach. I have been going to Barbados since 1983, I would normally stay on the south coast. This experience has really been disappointing and it definitely does not sit well with me that sections of the beach are essentially being made private by failing to provide proper public access to all of Barbados' beaches. If I lived here I would be campaigning for improved public access to all of the beaches. This is a stain on the reputation of Barbados. Read moreThis is a really beautiful beach and worth the effort to get to If you can. If you are staying at the Sandy Lane Hotel you're very lucky to have easy access. If not staying there you can access this public beach from the south ..easiest...( the cut through is next to one sandy lane and the walk north along the shore about 50 yards) or from the north (where the cut through is close to sandy crest medical centre and then walk south along the shore footpath about 700 yards.) HOWEVER from north or south.. you will have to judge your timing to coincide with low tide to get access and even then you could get caught by a rogue wave. If you approach from the south and have sturdy footware you can clamber above the sea wall section by the cut through for a bit to avoid the waves if you feel confident but the rocks above/ behind the sea wall are pretty sharp so take it slow....hope this...

There's a few public access to this beach, some a good distance away, but a walk along the shoreline will get you here eventually as it's miles stretch with usually calm waters along the west coast.
A few pleasure water crafts haul up here on a daily, beautiful sunsets in the evening with clean views of the ocean, as this coast is generally spared from the ongoing and unsightly seaweed found on both the east and south coasts.
The west coast is considered the platinum coast of the island and it's primarily due to this long stretch of beach with the status of many celebrities you may spot...
