Recreation Park Keiheuvel — Attraction in Balen

The place is as described and we didn't have any major problems. However, there was no place to have dinner or at least nothing worked when we needed it (it was Wednesday when we arrived and we didn't have any food). The bike rental, which was indicated as a possible service on the website, was not available for half of our stay and was very overpriced, so our only transport was a bus that comes every hour and you need to walk like 20 mins on the road/bike lane to reach it. Those aren't such a big problem but they become an issue if you want to go home late and you don't have a car. Generally, it's a nice camping, the bathroom was cleaned everyday and had toilet paper, the shower had enough hot water but you need to share it with others. Great playgrounds for kids. Next to nature. Free entrance except summer time. Small zoos. Great picnic place. You can stay the whole day with the kids. They have toilets. Swimming pools for toddlers...

Dit is een mooi gebied om te verblijven en te wandelen. Het is wel heel jammer dat een groep feestvierders, die om 8.00u ‘s morgens luide Nederlandse carnavalsmuziek speelt, is toegelaten in een natuurgebied! Absoluut geen stiltegebied dus voor mensen die dit zouden zoeken. Beetje horror zelfs voor mensen die van de rust van de natuur houden.

Wanneer? Ik weet dat er zaterdag de trail én de heksentocht was maar de opbouw hiervan begon al op woensdagavond en ging vanaf dan gepaard met heel luide muziek. Gelukkig enkel tot 22.30 en niet 's nachts maar wel ook in de voormiddag vanaf 8.00u op...
