We purchased tickets for the full Bastogne War Museum experience. Part of these tickets allows entry (you need the bar code on your ticket) into the gated entrance to the woods where the foxholes are. An information board is present at the entrance, with WiFi capability, as this is your last chance to download the app to view the overlay reality. There is a car park, but onlybsuitable for cars & motorbikes, larger vehicles had to park on what looked to be the maintenace path, acccess for woods management. As for the Foxholes, they are almost immediately visible just off the walkway. Follow the white arrows on the trees you'll come across indication plaques to play to the next overlay reality scene, 5 in total. I took a couple if screen shots to help explain what you will see. There is naration on the app, it's in French with subtitles in English. When you're looking at the Foxholes & have these overlay reality infront of them at the same time, it really does give some sense of the atmosphere, although today we are safe and the woods are very peaceful with birds singing. Because of how peaceful the place is now, and while you're looking at 'just holes in the ground', let's not forget there were many soldiers killed here, and as such, please respect and remember...
Read moreI used to love visiting the Bois Jacques, to reflect. What a shame that it has become what it has.
Today was my 4th time visiting Bastogne, and the Bois Jacques, my last visit dating back to 2022.

The Bois Jacques used to be one of those places that you needed to be particularly interested in a part of history to know of. It used to be open, no gate, no fences. One could visit it at any time of the day, or year.
The fact that you now have to pay to access this wood is, for me, disgraceful. Not only does it now attract the wrong people -- those wishing to tick things off of their list of places visited -- but they are all on their phones. Watching a very underwhelming walkthrough of the area. I found both them, and the app, quite disrespectful towards the men that suffered and died there. Attempting to make this into one of those 'experiences'...
Read moreVisiting the Bois Jacques Foxholes near Foy, Belgium, was a truly fascinating experience, especially for fans of the HBO series Band of Brothers. Walking among the well-preserved foxholes dug by Easy Company of the 101st Airborne Division during the Battle of the Bulge felt like stepping into history. These shallow, haunting trenches, still visible in the quiet woods, vividly connect you to the harsh realities faced by the soldiers in the freezing winter of 1944. The site’s proximity to Bastogne and its historical significance make it a must-visit for anyone inspired by the series or interested in WWII history. I highly recommend exploring this poignant landmark to honor the bravery of Easy Company and to feel the weight of their...
