Read moreI didn't have the highest expectations going to this park, so our visit was a pleasant surprise. Fury is a world-class coaster, and getting on that was worth the visit alone. The operations on that ride specifically were pretty bad, but it didn't feel like it was the ride operators fault since 95% of the queue was unsupervised children that kept arguing and weren't able to follow simple instructions.
The other rides at this park are nothing special, so any thrill seeker will probably want to stay in the Land of Legends area all day, but this park has some historic and interesting rides like King Kong or Revolution.
The fast pass was a spontaneous decision, and it worked really well, and the staff got it set up on my phone really quickly.
Overall, it's a nice park if you don't have crazy high expectations.
One more thing has to be said though: DO NOT get the park operated shuttle bus to Herentals. We waited at Herentals station for 40 minutes for a shuttle bus that allegedly comes twice every hour, and the amount of people that had already accumulated by then was way too much for one bus anyway. We just went to the park with the bus line 33 for less than half the price, the bus station is just a 10 Minute walk from the park. We wanted to at least make use of the shuttle on the way back, but no. To no ones surprise, most of the visitors leave the park at closing time, and the shuttle bus was already full. Next one comes in 30 minutes - of course - and I wasn't having any of it and took the same bus line back to Herentals station. Why would you operate a bus line specifically for Bobbejaanland and have it run every 30 minutes pretty much the whole day instead of just sending an increased frequency to the park when it opens and an increased frequency back...
Read moreI remember this park was very impressive when I was 8 years old. That was in 1988. Since then, it's gotten a lot of nice additions, and it's still a fun place to go to, but it's beginning to feel a bit dated and there are a few points of interest you might want to pay attention to.
First of all, on days when there aren't many visitors, some attractions will be closed for part of the day. Also, while there are lots of rides which are great for younger kids, most of them require that they are accompanied by an adult if they are under 1.40m (4'8"), if you're not used to the metric system) tall. That eliminates the option of sending your kid(s) off to a relatively safe ride while you go grab a much needed cup of coffee. That is balanced by the fact that almost all rides are accessible for people over 1m, or sometimes 1.20m, tall. It's really a kids oriented park.
There are a few rides that thrill-seeking adults may enjoy, such as the intense Typhoon rollercoaster and the Sledgehammer, and the park will surely keep you busy for a few hours.
My only real annoyance is the fact that there are a lot of pay-to-play type activities in the park. Several gaming arcades, an 8-minute escape room and lots of paid photo opportunities, not to mention the dryers you can step into (and pay) once you've gotten completely soaked in the Banana Boats. Trust me: stay away from those boats if you're carrying anything that doesn't react well to being dropped in a swimming pool.
All in all I still take my 8-year old son here sometimes, but mostly because we have a yearly pass for the Efteling, which affords us a permanent 50% discount on the...
