Mechelse Heide — Attraction in Maasmechelen

I grew up in Maasmechelen so I have been coming here since I could barely walk. It is a beautyful piece of nature. There are several color coded trails. Each trail has a different distance and difficulty rate. The trails take you through a variety of scenery. Through dense forest, open planes with rolling hills covered in purple heath, there is something for everyone. There is parking available and part of the trail is accessible by wheelchair. Very great hike. The paths have signs so you do not get lost. The parking lot is a little small. But we were there on a long weekend. That's probably why it was so busy. Even though there were a lot of visitors the paths were not overcrowded and we were still able to enjoy the hike without too many people around us. Probably due to the size...

Beautiful area to walk, hike, run, bike or relax! With or without dogs you can enter this place for free. Parking is near a restaurant and swimming area so during the summer this is a nice place to bring your kids.
