Observatoire Centre Ardenne — Attraction in Neufchâteau

I followed a 3 days 101 workshop on observational astronomy. It was my first concrete experience in this field and I must say I couldn't have found a better place to get into it. The team was very welcoming and arranged the content to the level and expectations of the group (about 12 people). Gilles has a strong experience observing celestial objects, guiding us on a very practical level to set up the gear and understand what we are looking at. Isabelle is extremely knowledgeable and with her background in physics she took us quite deep into the theory to better understand the universe and how we can observe it. The place itself is super interesting, well equipped and if I was living closer I would certainly join the club to continue to expand my experience. Thanks again for sharing with us your love for...

Ce mercredi après-midi, à l'occasion des 6 ans de notre benjamine - déjà passionnée par les planètes - nous avons eu le plaisir de découvrir l'OCA. Cela en compagnie d'une joyeuse troupe de… 5 enfants âgés de 6 ans et de notre grande de 11 ans !

Gilles, un tooout grand merci pour ton accueil, pour le partage de ta passion, pour ta patience et ton adaptation avec cette sacrée bande, pour la convivialité partagée lors du goûter, mais aussi pour les quelques blagues placées par-ci, par-là… pour celles-là, tu auras au moins eu un fan ;)

Pour le reste de la visite, les filles semblent avoir passé un fort bon moment ! Elles sont en tout cas rentrées enchantées, et ont particulièrement aimé de monter sous la plus haute coupole et, bien sûr, le « voyage spatial » final :)

Notre grande, elle, a vraiment bien accroché ! Elle était assez calme et discrète (pour une fois) tout au long de la visite… mais elle nous a répété plusieurs fois en rentrant qu’elle avait vraiment tout apprécié !

Pour ma part, en plus d’avoir levé la tête un peu + haut que d’habitude, j’étais très heureux de te rencontrer, mais aussi de découvrir de beaux aménagements en faveur de la biodiversité ;)

Nous avons déjà réservé une prochaine visite, avec nos filleuls cette fois !

Bravo pour ce beau projet de sensibilisation et pour le grand dynamisme consacré à le réaliser !

We did the sleep over and we liked it. The lady explained very well the world of astronomy. After visiting the scopes (a massieve 60cm 😮) - bad weather condition so no visual observations - we went to see and learn on the thumbling stars with the radio telescope. At the end we had a private planetarium session and we stay to sleep. Impressive what those people are doing....
