Belizean Beach — Attraction in Belize City

Tourists beware! Don't go to this beach! My husband and I went here on a Monday because Old Belize was closed and we wanted to swim. It was fine for about 15 minutes until a beat up old truck arrived and parked right beside our stuff, we immediately started to swim for the shore and then 2 men came galloping up on horseback with their faces covered and also started milling around our bags. We thought they were going to take off with our stuff but luckily they didn't. My husband got out of the water and they approached him and tried to intimidate him, not so much with what they said but how they said it. We got the hell out of there asap. We always come here with kids, its never crowded. Sometimes there is something like silt on the bottom of the sea, but its only the first 2-3 feet as you enter the water. The beach is dirty with garbage because the place is not maintained by the government, noone cleans it, and maybe some is left by visitors, but most of it is brought by storms.
