What a great host Ivan is, and what a terrific time we had on his island!!! Where do I begin?
Do you like hammocks? There are dozens hanging in shady and sunny spots alike. Lounge chairs? Dozens of those too! Do you like conversation with the locals? We spoke with Ivan and his associates for hours. Snorkeling? We hit two remote spots and even snorkeled happily right from his dock, seeing species of wrasse, triggerfish, needlefish, barracuda, boxfish, sea stars, dominos and other damselfishes, and lots of soft corals, with a few stony corals as well.
We set out from the lagoon at 9am and arrived at the island by 10am after stopping to pick up some extra dive gear and pausing enroute for an explanation of the effects of hurricane Mitch in '98. Once on the island, everyone found their groove, some at the bar shooting pool, others in hammocks, and us wandering about, meeting the friends and family of Ivan. By 10:40am we were headed to our first dive spot, where about 16 of us explored the shallow reef while Ivan speared lunch. We returned to the island by 11:30 or so and they began prep for lunch. Lobster (only in season another week), conch, red snapper, chicken, cole slaw, rice and beans, and more! By 1pm, we were all swinging in hammocks or swaying from the stiff drinks at "Island Bar" with island vibes playing on the sound system. At 2pm a few of us went out for the final dive on a shallow point where the current carried us to our waiting boat, and where we saw angelfishes and many colorful and cute territorial fishes. By 3pm we were back on the island and packing for the trip home. Our only complaint was not realizing we should have planned to stay the night! You won't go wrong choosing...

We took a snorkeling tour around to several spots and our guide got in the water with us and was so helpful and fun. He pointed out so many things for us to see and kept us laughing and joking the whole time, never rushing us around. The actual snorkeling was incredible too, great visibility and a ton of wildlife. We got to see stingrays, nurse sharks, a loggerhead turtle that we got up really close to, and an amazing assortment of tropical fish. Our guide would dive down to bring things up for us to see, like urchins or conchs. It was so nice to have the whole trip just be the 5 of us and this would be an amazing adventure for pretty much any ages. The whole thing was very catered to what we wanted to do and we never were in the same spot as another group. Having the whole island to ourselves was so amazing. Without a doubt this was an unforgettable trip and we would recommend it to anyone!! Thank you Ivan,...
Read moreMy husband and I could not recommend this island more to anyone. We absolutely loved every second of our time on it. We spend the week island hopping in a kayak and spend our last two nights at Ivan’s Island. Ivan is a gracious host who really makes a point to make sure you are comfortable. We were more than taken care of the entire time we were there. The island caretaker, Doc, is just as friendly, welcoming and kind. He was always making sure we were taken care of and having a good time. The food we were lucky enough to have was delicious. The drinks were amazing. The snorkeling around the island is beautiful. It really is just paradise. Whether you are looking for a vacation with your family, or just a get away with your partner, this island is the...
