While the route off the main highway is a bit bumpy and much longer than expected, it’s definitely worth it! The park guides are very knowledgeable and give you everything you need to know before setting on your path.
We took the Antelope Trail, which is one of the steeper trails. It’s about a 45 minute hike to the top. It ends at an amazing waterfall that you can swim at and the views are amazing!
The last 15 minutes of this hike are very steep - almost vertical in some areas but we did it with our 6 year old and she loved it.
Once you get to a view of the waterfall, you’re not done. Follow the sign to the pool, which is where the steep part begins.

Read moreThis national park is a true hidden gem. It offers multiple options for hiking with many gorgeous waterfall choices. We did the loop to Mayan ruins, then a hike to Ramon falls and then finished with a hike to Antelope falls as the grand finale. The entire trip took about 6 hours and we took our time to enjoy the swimming pools and the views. The best part of all day, as many hikers will appreciate, is that we passed only 2 other people the whole day(!), which would be unheard of in many national parks around the world. This place truly allows you to soak in the nature and have it all to yourself. The guide was not required which was also a plus. Definitely recommend this park 1000%. Also many people comment on how steep/challenging the last part of Antelope falls is - it’s honestly not that bad and the reward of jumping in the pool at the top is...

Before ther tour is explained. They are many trails to venture on but, with my 7 year old and a novice like myself I opt for the lower 15 mins hike , we were fortunate to have a guide and with him he showed us the Jaguars footprint and the alligator by another pond on our way back. Now the water was as fresh and chilled as it could be we took time for our feet to cool down before entering. The waterfall was amazing and the kids loved it. I will be back to challenge myself either with the whole day or the Antelope waterfall. You won't regret...
