It's Benin biggest market. You can find almost all types of articles. Some are very cheap as well as some are very expensive. You have to bargain to avoid buying thing expensively. You may want to ask the prices from different shops, and compare them. If you are buying local products like tomatoes, fish, oil, Bari, maize ... It's advised to visit the market during the market day, every 5 days. The other products are always available from Monday to Sunday. The languages of communication are Goun, Fon, Yoruba, French. Enjoy...

Amazing. Never new there will be a market like this in Benin. Prior to the Lagos market, I think Dantokpa was the largest market in West Africa. I went there with a friend to buy wigs, and then we got carried away by its size, so we did a little window shopping. It's great. Wherever you are in Cotonou, you can take a motor bike (Kekeno) here, and tell them you are going to Tokpa, as is popular called here. You can also go with Bènin Taxi, which might be...

I’m a girl who loves tapioca.I knew It would be an error to visit Cotonou and not buy some,so I asked the tour guide to take me to the market. I’m told it’s one of the biggest markets in Cotonou.Everything is sold there. It was nostalgic for me as I found some street snacks I used to eat as a child. It was a good experience and worth while.
