Honmè Museum — Attraction in Ouémé Department

Fantastic piece of architecture one that is simply breathtaking for the old mosque but the new mosque retains new architecture design but the old mosque showed the seeing characteristics of old civilization gone although there is a folk story about the mosque where locals say a huge amount of gold was hidden somewhere and can only be found by someone with a true heart of gold an adventure for those who feel the need to just be careful as locals can be very touchy when it comes to foreigners touching...

It was the elaborate ancient palace of close to a dozen line of kings converted into a museum. Very historical with spiritual relics dotting every corridor. Currently under renovation, it has an enthusiastic tour guide who manages to switch between French- his lingua Franca - and English. Photographs not allowed within the chambers...

Hier après midi mon beau frère béninois me propose la visite Le préposé annonce sur un ton de reproche ''vous le Français c'est 1500,le Béninois 500'' et comme je n'ai pas de monnaie je me fais presque insulté de la réclamer. Je décide donc de reprendre mon billet et de quitter les lieux ,alors que je suis hors des murs deux ''guides'' me disent excusez le oublions l'argent et venez faire la visite.Un quart d'heure après ,le guide fort compétent d'ailleurs ,me donne 30 euros ,c'est votre monnaie il faut payer maintenant,, Arnaque ?!?? Voici résumé l'accueil réservé aux Français en ces lieux. A noter que l'on a refusé de me donner les coordonnées de la direction...Première expérience de cette sorte ,je viens depuis huit ans faire de l'humanitaire au Bénin et habituellement suis courtoisement accueillis....quel...
