The Bumdra Hike takes you beyond the famous Tiger's Nest hike. From Tiger's Nest it takes about another 3 hours for good hikers. Enjoy the spectacular views of the valley below. Halt a night at Bumdra at a tented accommodation. Next morning hike further up to the three cremation grounds (for babies). The highest one is 4248m above sea level and you can enjoy the 360 degree view of the surrounding mountains and valleys. It is worth the climb. Back to your camp and have lunch and hike back to Paro which will take about 3 hours to the base of the hike. There is also an alternate trail which you can opt to take while going up if you want to avoid the steep climb of Taktshang trail. But need to start early if you want to visit the Tiger's Nest Monastery.

With the floating clouds over numerous hills and valleys, with panoramic views of mountains and valleys around, it is the perfect place of serenity and peace. You get chance to reflect upon your inner self with a genuine sense of satisfaction. It is where Hundred Thousand (Bum in Dzongkha) Dakinis left their footprints on a cliff (Dra in Dzongkha)

Bumdra Sacred Place of hundred Thousands Dakini

One can go to the supreme sacred place of Bumdra , which is the second Tsari, either from the old Zangtopalri or Yoselgang. If you go from Yoselgang you have to climb up more than two hours.

It is said that there is Swirling Amrita (Amrita Kundali) the deity practice particularly to eliminate negative influences, in the right cliffs, a hundred Supreme Peaceful and Wrathful Deities ( zhi khor dam pa rigs brgya) to the left and deities of Vajra Subjugator (rdo rje rnam ' joms) in the middle. One can see a temple built on one side of the cliff. In accordance with the vision of ones veneration, one can see the footprints of hundred thousand dakinis.

The cliff above the path to the temple looks like a long -life vase from the front and from behind like a naturally-appeared Vajravarahi and a place to ascertain positive and negative karma on one side of the cliff above the path. The stream that flows down the temple ,said to be the water of life falling from the secret door of the Total Subjugator ( rnam 'joms) the name of a deity in Buddhist Tantra, is the source of Shelkarchu stream.

The two cliffs to the left of the temple ate said to be Hayagriva and Garuda. If you walk a while from the back side of the cliffs, you can see wonderful streams said to be Phochu (male stream) and Mochu (female stream ). If you climb up one hour from there you can see a rock in the shape of Ugyen Gurus hate.

It is believed that Guru Rinpoche flew from Singye Dzong in Lhuntse on tigress and meditated at Taktsang. In a cave of Taktsang Singye Samdrup, Guru Rinpoche manifested into Throgyal Drolo and subdued malevolent spirits. During that time, hundred thousand dakinis from Nubchog Khadroi Ling came to meadow above Taktsang to offer ganachakra fest offering and left hundred thousand footprints.

There are 3 crematoriums above the Bumdra monastery which are said to have the same blessings as Dudthroe Gawaitshel. Lam of Choechong Tse said that the main focus of our visit to Bumdra should be...
