A magical place! The history of the ruins is very interesting, and the landscape is beautiful. There are guides and I absolutely recommend getting one since there aren’t any descriptions and you will probably not understand anything about the place without explanations.

We were lucky to find a wonderful guide by pure chance upon our arrival at the ruins. Wil not only explained everything we saw but guided us through the purification rituals. While I’m not a particular spiritual person, it was an honour and pleasure to take part in this experience. You can contact him on WhatsApp: 67056380. We did the tour in Spanish, so I’m not sure whether he speaks English.

There is an entry fee of 10 Bolivianos to visit this part of the island, and the tour...

We caught a boat from Yumani at around 9am. The boat people said we had to take a private boat to Challampampa which was 200Bs, not sure if this was true or not and maybe there was other ferries going there cheaper. We walked up to the ruins and spent some time there, the kids liked exploring the Labyrinth. We didn’t get a guide but it probably would have been useful to explain things better, we didn’t come across any English speaking guides and our Spanish wasn’t great. We then walked back to our hostal in Yumani and got back around 3pm. There was a 10Bs entry fee for adults but the...

The walk to the Labyrinth at mid-day is fairly intense due to the high altitude, so bring enough water and take a few breathers along the way. The labyrinth is surrounded by stunning views across the lake. It’s a shame there are no explanations about what you’re looking at (unless you went with a guide). There is someone selling tickets near the start...

I was there on a summery and sunny day. It is advisable to take a sunscreen and walk around the whole island throughout the day to have time to see as much as possible before it gets dark. There are also accommodation options on the island but I unfortunately did not try them due to a time cycle. equipment: Hat, water, anti-dryness lipstick, camera, bag

Well preserved and worth the hike! Our local guide Jorge was very knowledgeable and was a great story teller. If you’re also planning on doing the Norte-Sur hike watch your time because it takes about 3+ hours from Chincana to complete if you take into account sightseeing, elevation etc.
