Samaipata Archaeological Museum (CIAS) — Attraction in Municipio Samaipata

It is an interesting site to visit at Samaipata (150 km from downtown of Santa Cruz). Every day archaeologics are making discovers. For the entrance there are two kind of fees one for foreigns and other for locals, guides are offered free of cost but give them a tip. Honestly rather dry. There's a lot of interesting information but the majority is presented as a picture with a big block of text, almost all just in Spanish. The Spanish was fine for me, but my friend who speaks German, Portuguese and English would have struggled without my translations. The text is normally just the 'what' and 'how' of the photo, not much 'why'. I really enjoyed the maps. You can't just pay to visit the museum, you have to buy the 50bs joint ticket for El Fuerte...

El museo está ok. Esta compuesto por salas con diferentes exhibiciones y una sala con sillas y un televisor para ver videos sobre el fuerte y sobre Samaipata. Lo más bonito del lugar, en mi humilde opinión, es el amplio patio en la mitad del lugar que esta lleno de plantas y flores. Algo que me sorprendió mucho fue ver diferentes modificaciones craneales que ejecutaban grupos indígenas que vivían en, y alrededor, del Fuerte.

Al sitio le hace falta un poco de mantenimiento, mejor iluminación en algunas exhibiciones, más y mejores descripciones de los objetos y quizás unas cuantas actualizaciones en los posters informativos. Diría que por si sólo, no vale la pena visitarlo. Lo bueno es que si vas al Fuerte de Samaipata, el ticket que pagas allá te vale por tres días para entrar gratis al museo y esa modalidad me parece buena para entrar al museo...
