Reserva Nacional de Fauna Andina Eduardo Avaroa — Attraction in Municipio San Pablo de Lipez

The reserve is located in the southwestern part of Bolivia, close to the borders with Chile and it is a very important protected area. It covers an area of 7.45 sq. klm and it includes the famous Laguna Colorada and Laguna Verde, among other lakes. In addition, there are two settlements inside the National Reserve, Quetena Chico and Quetena Grande. Mind blowing, surreal landscape stretches for ever. I strongly recommend a visit to these areas for everyone at least once in their lifetime. You will not be disappointed or regret it. One word of caution - altitude sickness can be a real issue as the whole region is higher than 4000m above sea level and can get up to more than 5000m in places. This is an amazingly beautiful place. I did a 3 day tour with a couple of Irish and a Scot and had a great time. The driver and guide spoke little English so I helped with translations. We slept in shared bedrooms and ocassionaly a salt hotel. The landscapes constantly reminded me of a surrealist painting or dream.
