The church itself is like any other Catholic church, but the atmosphere around it is truly amazing.
People from all over the world come to this sacred place for Catholics — to talk, to confess in their own language, or simply to find some peace.
Next to the church, there’s a small square where priests from different countries sit, and anyone who feels the need can talk to them or go to confession.
The only downside is that there’s no holy water available anywhere to take home in a little vial as a keepsake. Probably because Polish tourists would take it by the gallon and not leave any for the rest of the world.
Luckily, we managed to draw water from the well in front of the church, and a priest blessed it. It was also a nice opportunity to have a short conversation.
On the main street next to the church, you’ll find lots of souvenir shops and restaurants.
About 1 km away, there’s the Apparition Hill — and if you believe in fairy tales, you can climb up and pray by the statue of the Virgin Mary.
Apparently, there’s a free parking lot somewhere around, but I didn’t see one — so I just parked on the street for...
Read moreMedgugorje is a magical place for everyone. I am not a Catholic but am a Christian and I felt it to be a place of silence/tranquility/ spirituality/ and reflection. A spiritual retreat of sorts! This church was beautiful as were the surrounding grounds with symbolic statues and the atmosphere was electric! People from all over the world came for the pilgrimage and I heard at least 7 different nationalities ( probably a lot more) . We attended the English mass the two days we spent there and had the pleasure of hearing Fr. Leon speak and he is one of my all time favorite speakers! You can tell he definitely has a calling and he loves what he is called to do. His messages “spoke to my heart” in so many different ways that I could relate to so I highly recommend going to his services! Mass is held in so many languages- there is something for everyone which I appreciated! Love this church and the town of Medugorje! I haven’t left yet ( leave tomorrow) but already want to come back! God bless everyone! Peace be...
Morate doći sami i to osjetiti. ✝️💐🤗❤️
The priests are extremely pious, they celebrate mass with reverence for God, a very organized mass for a very large number of visitors. The Mass is so alive that I can't stop the tears during the Mass, especially at the body of the Christ when I see how the priests humbly and respectfully carry the body of Christ in their hands. The singing is just as powerful and I feel every word of the singing during the mass. At the blessing, you feel that the Holy Spirit blesses you when the priest sprinkles you with holy water. The church inside is indescribably filled with the holy spirit and you can feel it strongly, the place and the church itself are so powerful and holy that I cannot describe it to you. You have to come and feel it yourself. Priests are honored by how much they are in front of God and how much they serve him with their heart, soul and body, that whenever I listen to the reading of the words, I become very heavy and absolutely feel every word as if the Holy Spirit is speaking to me, I start swaying, a gentle fog appears around me, as if time and air stop and I get paid a lot. Thank you, Mother of God, for everything, thank you for love, for prayer, for blessing and for peace. Queen of peace, pray for...
